Just how small can you build a rack and pinion robot? Probably smaller than this. Probably not, however, if you leave enough room for a programmable brick and a differential. The gear reduction in the drive wheels enable it to travel slowly, with some power. The steering is a little fast; this can be solved by instead using a wedge belt wheel.
These are some great renderings. How did you do them? I understand that you used POV Ray and Global Illumination. Could you explain the process or point to a good tutorial?
Oh, and of course it's a great robot, too ^_^
