The Delta-5 Starfighter manufactured by Kuat Systems Engineering was the predecessor to the Delta-6 Starfighter from the same company. The Delta-6 model in turn was the predecessor to the Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor and the Delta-7B Aethersprite-class light interceptor, both of which saw extensive use in the Clone Wars. With that historical background set, I give you the Delta-5 Starfighter.

Side.
Front. The Delta-5 lacked a functional weapons system, as Kuat Systems Engineering merely wanted to try their hand out at shaping a single-seater light interceptor prototype. The Jedi Council expressed interest in the Delta-5 and had their pilots test fly it. Masters Tiin and Koon happened to see potential in the little craft and before long the Jedi commissioned the production of the Delta-6. One of the weird things about the Delta-6 was that it lacked an onboard astromech droid navigation unit, despite of the fact that the Delta-5 had one.
The Delta-5's engines were radically different from the Delta-6, Delta-7, and Delta-7B models'. The Delta-5 also lacked the rear fin of its successors.
Kuat Systems Engineering made the Delta-5 with a spacious and comfortable cockpit. This luxury would be eliminated in their later models as stronger engines and functional weapons systems were given precedence over mere comfort.

In the event of a crash, Kuat Systems Engineering was wise enough to provide the Delta-5 a secret compartment for storing a comlink and a holoprojector.
