The Good Ship QED - Modular
A Modular pirate ship, 2nd one I've seen, though there are probably more. I am awesome.
About this creation
Remember me? No?
Well, Iíve been pretty unactive lately, because Iím working on my comic (an actual COMIC with speech bubbles) News 6. However, I planned to do a pirate ship over the summer, and here it is. Oh, and itís modular. Only one Iíve seen here on MOCpages. Why did I name my ship Quod Erat Demonstrandum? Iím a total nerd, thatís why. Whatís great about it is if I ever get more hull pieces for the boat, I can just add it in without major reconstruction. Damn, Iím good.

Whole ship. I know, itís a WIP

Iím well aware that I need to finish the masts and add sails. I really wanted to post this, I thought it turned out awesome.

I like the bow. Notice the wings and the dragon at the bottom.

The side. We havenít even got to the best part yet.

Back. I need to add windows in that frame, yes.

The afterdeck. At least, I think thatís what itís called.

This is the best part. This is only the 2nd modular pirate ship Iíve seen, the 1st one being on Flickr. I wish I can say I did this first, but I didnít. Why is it modular? I talked about it before in my other Pirate Ship, but the real problem for me when I built ships was playability. I couldnít get into the lower levels. This allows me to.

The stern. 3 levels.

Captís Cabin. I need to finish this up.

Bottom deck. Rear chase cannon, a first for my ship. I never really did those.

Side of stern. I really like how this turned out.

One of the three middle parts.

Cannon.

2nd deck. Iím not sure what to put here. Kitchen? Brig? Sleeping area?

All 3 together. Pretty cool, eh?

Love this shot.

All 3 middle parts, 2nd Deck.

Bow, lower deck. Weapons will go in those chests.

Being modular, you can pretty much customize it to any number of parts. You can even attach the bow to the stern. Although, that would make for one weird pirate ship.

Did I mention the afterdeck was removable?

I still need to mess with the Captís Cabin.

Dragon.
Well, thanks for looking.

Great job! The modularity of this is really cool. I may have to try it if I ever end up building a boat.

Quoting Alex Mac Looks like it could pack a good punch, especially with all those cannons.
That was the intent. Thanks for commenting.

Very good creation. To start my long and obnoxious review, i'd like to rant about how i like the windows. The windows that are used throughout the ship gives it a good feel to it, just how it's sort of lattice. Moving along, the red color scheme throughout the ship would not be good without the black with it. However, i'm not nescesserally a fan of the yellow in the front. The shape of the ship is in perfect shape with how i think a ship should be, adding a sense of reality to it. It must have been hard making the parts under the deck, but you did an excellent job doing so.

It's a cool idea and a great build, but the front is a bit too stubby and short IMO.

Quoting Sebeus I Well, you're not the first one on mocpages with modular pirate ships, Paul cantu did one more than a year ago and I remember seeing another builder here making a very big one too. I'll look them up.
The only few I can find is this: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/250059 This is hardly the same. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/83550 http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/85829 And this.(Both are pretty much the same thing) You're correct, but I came up with this on my own. And my own technique is slightly different and more involved. Also, there are a lot that you can take off the deck. Different, but still cool. And on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/savatheaggie/5749827778/ I suppose I was a bit TOO confident (was going to use a different word), but I was sure I have an original idea. I guess I was wrong.
Quoting Sebeus I ...the shape isn't balanced, it should be smaller near the top.
I assume you're talking about the Captains Cabin? I feel differently. I gives it a better look, in my opinion.
Quoting Sebeus I I suggest you either make it smaller or longer like someone else here already suggested.
The reason WHY I made it modular was the fact that I didn't have enough hull pieces (like I explained before). That way, when I bought more hull pieces, I could add more, and make it longer. So far, when I bought off bricklink, I was given reddish brown hull pieces rather than brown ones.

Quoting C. Alexander Clay At the risk of sounding redundant, the figurehead looks a little dwarfed by the rest of the ship, and I for one don't really think of dragons and pirates going together.
To each his own, I guess.

Anyway, The ship has some nice stuff but basically it could use some improvement, the shape isn't balanced, it should be smaller near the top. I suggest you either make it smaller or longer like someone else here already suggested.

Looks pretty awesome so far. At the risk of sounding redundant, the figurehead looks a little dwarfed by the rest of the ship, and I for one don't really think of dragons and pirates going together. Cool idea, great build, can't wait to see what it looks like when it's finished.

Quoting Jay Rhum Nice ship! It's massive and well done. I find it a bit square at the stern, and a bit too short! But the idea is here! =)
The reason it's so short is that I don't have that many hull pieces - only 3 middle ones. Half the reason I made it modular is so I could add MORE hull pieces, without having to rebuild it. I'm planning on making it bigger, just as soon as I get a hold of some more pieces.
Quoting Deus Well, modularity compensates for the big plastic pieces on the bottom.
Ah, but you see, it would be almost impossible to make modular if there weren't big plastic pieces at the bottom :)
Quoting AA (Noname) It's a cool idea and a great build, but the front is a bit too stubby and short IMO.
Like I said, I'd going to make it longer. I like the front, actually. Oh well.
