This MOC was greatly inspired by the incredible Pierre E Fieschi and his magnificent HammerTurtle. I really had to have one myself, so here is my version of it.
The Gryphon was a product of the Earth-Valdoran War, where scarce resources dictated a design philosophy that eschewed multi-tasking. In this instance, the strike carrier also serves as an orbital platform for repairs and resupply for the fleet and planet-bound forces. Her obvious asymmetry clearly indicates function over form.
About this creation
SCV-129 - "Gryphon" Class Strike Carrier / Orbital Dry Docks.
Length: 520m
Width: 125m
Displacement: 290,000tons
Crew: 2800, with 1000 air-wing.
Propulsion: 2 x Graviton Reactors powering 2 x Gravitonic Vectoring Rudders & 2 x Main Thrusters.
Auxilliary propulsion: 6 x Ionic Impulse Thrusters.
Aircraft: 100 x "Raven" Heavy TAFs, 8 x "Cobra" AWACS, assortment of up to 40 Dropships.
Armaments: 1 x "Morningstar" Anti-Ship Protonic Main Cannon, 2 x Quadruple Anti-ship Neutron Torpedo Launchers, 2 x Octuple Anti-ship Neutron Torpedo Launchers, 4 x "Phalanx III" CIWS.

As a result of her unconventionally asymmetical shape, this configuration precludes any atmospheric capability, thus rendering the Gryphon a purely space-based vessel.

Being the most important part of the ship, her bridge structure has to be well-protected. Seen here are 2 side mounted Phalanx III Close In weapons System Pulse Cannons on the bridge, and on other strategic locations about the vessel.

Seen on the port side aft section, at the rearmost engine fairing, is the "Morningstar", a massive Protonic Energy Weapon with two 35 meter long barrels, each with enough power to punch a hole in 10 meters of tritanium armour.

A glimpse of the "Phalanx III" close-in weapon system.

Ventral View of the hull.

The Gryphon, seen alongside the Promethium and her escorts. A size comparison shows the Gryphon to be almost as long as the Promethium, but consistently broader and hence, more voluminous. This shows in the number of fighter craft the Gryphon carries - 150 as compared to the Promethium's 100 fighters.

I really like your designs, from the color schemes to the perfect use of slopes. Do you have any "professional" background? |

Hi, sadly I've got no design/art background...just a great love for sci-fi and grand spaceships:)
