Advanced Tripod Invader
An advanced alien tripod walker used for specimen collection.
About this creation
After purchasing Lego's newest H.G. Wells ripoff I decided to build my own (insult aside, I enjoyed the set and appreciate the amount of creativity that went into it). This walker is most influenced by Starcraft 2's Colossus, but I gave it the right details to fit better into the Alien Conquest theme. I would have liked to use light bley for the primary color, but by now I'm sure it's no mystery which color is most prevalent in my Lego collection.

Here's a good shot of the walker from the side, this profile shot shows the elongated and angled head.

A soldier's-eye-view of this machine; if you see this you might want to run...

A closer view of the head featuring duel cockpit and highly developed triaxial plasma laser; I have no idea what that means, but it's alien technology so who cares!

A view of the head from behind, with an ADU soldier and businessman contained in the stasis chambers.

This view shows the joints in the leg, nothing special...

A final view of another ADU soldier and civilian behind picked up by the walker's tentacles.

This was a fun walker to make, but it seems that the things I make with legs keep getting weaker and flimsier: if you imagine an elephant on roller skates hitting it's face on the ground as it's legs spread apart, that's what I dealt with over and over with this thing. Nevertheless it was a different build for me to try and incorporate the raw structure into the exterior of the build, instead of just piling on more and more pieces until it looks clean, and even then I did my best to conceal the technic parts.

That being said, I hope you enjoyed it!

Quoting Tom Simon Well this $uc&s! I mean, this is suboptimal. I can't see any of the pics for either of your last 2 MOCs that I missed. I get the gist of the crash that seems to have happened, but everyone else has at least some of their recent MOCs intact. You so special!
You know you have good friends when they like your creation without seeing a single picture...

A very great work!! I have not already purchased those sets (I will soon) but I have to admit I wish yours were on sale, even expensive. You really caught the spirit of the original tripod and made an awesome new upgrade. I desagree with you about the legs: they give a spider-like look that fits perfectly.

Amazing alien walker. It got a really freaky invaders feel to it. I would def run the other way if I saw this thing coming. Great work

Another great one! The coloring looks amazing. I'd never really considered Lime as an accent for dark bley, but it really works. Great design as well--those stasis pods are fantastic and I really dig the lazer. And using those whips as people-grabbers? Brilliant!

This fits in so well with Alien conquest. I better keep my voice down...but I would sooo buy this over the Lego line up!

Just beautiful. I love the laser design and the pistons in the legs, but especially the containment pods. The combination of wheel cowlings, dome windows, and the tubes leading up to them is inspired. A great tribute to both Alien Conquest and H.G. Wells.

Excellent work, man. The prison compartiments are a wonderfull touch, gives it that more drama it needs. Being a tripod builder myself, I know exactly what you mean with "the elephant syndrome"! Again: great work, keep 'em coming!

It's so stylized with it's edges and shapes, I can't get enough of it, outstanding work.

Wow, man! This is both awesome and terrifying! I love the shape, especially the head and the stasis tube thingies. Not really sure why aliens would want to bother taking US for specimens, though...

Ok, I'm seeing some SERIOUS COOL on this tripod, the way the stasis pods fit snuggly into those wheel arches! An excellent version of the official set. Great moc sir!

Thank you everyone for your comments!
Quoting Shawn Purkis You seem to use that curved angled piece a lot seems like it's been in your last three MOCs I think.
Yeah I've been using that a lot lately, it just seems to come in handy.

Wow, this is simply brilliant! I love every detail of this machine, but the legs are actually my favorite bit, they just scream Alien Conquest. Well done indeed mate!

Wow, such a sweet theme. The dark bley looks good with the light bley for mechanical details. The tentacles are great and so simple. For some reason I want to see this without the cockpit bubbles so you cant see the pilots or it looks more robotic. You seem to use that curved angled piece a lot seems like it's been in your last three MOCs I think.

If Lego sold this as the Tripod invader set, I'd buy it even if they doubled the price. Great work, Lego should come take a look at this before they release more sets in their current extraterrestrial-related product line.

Impossibly cool! the stasis pods on the back are perfect...totally disgusting...but perfect! Will it leave them on the ground like eggs for other invader craft to pick up? The sockets that hold the green pods are really stunning. And the tentacles? Simple simple simple, and yet, totally evocative of a complex apparatus. Really a fun MOC to look at. Attack!

Brilliant! It looks very 'scary', it also looks a bit like a giant spider. If the ADU's doesn't create a greater oppenion, they might conqeror our planet! Woah!
