MG Metro 6R4
This is my entry for the Rally Car contest and Dan the Mans 4th car contest.
About this creation
I wanted to build something British and this is one of my favourite rally cars. This model is loosely based on the Rothmans car driven by Jimmy McRae (Colin McRaes father).

If you want to see the real thing follow this link;

http://www.motorsport-imagery.com/raceretro2011/h190A500E#h190a500e

Unfortunately nothing opens on this car apart from the roof. The reason for this is the giant body kit and i wanted form over function. I think i have added enough features and detail to make up for it though.

So here we go...

I'll let the car do the talking for a minute...

Here you can see the V6 engine peeking out of the back.

Some arty shots

The whole roof folds forward to reveal the highly detailed cockpit and engine bay.

I love this steering wheel and i have to thank Ricky Comisso for the concept which i changed a little.

An above shot of the V6 engine

The dashboard, the small wheels are the AC, there is the must have fire extinguisher (this engine wasn't the most reliable, but was one of the best sounding engines ever!

The comfy supportive bucket seats, these are a modified version of the seats i used in my DeTomas Pantera, which recently won a contest :)

The V6 Engine. This engine was so special that when this car was sadly banned from rallies along with many other superb Group B rally cars, it was bought by TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing) and he strapped two turbos to it and put it in the Jaguar XJ220, which was one of the first 200+ mph cars.

The pedals

The steering wheel

The Dashboard

The back section comes off easily to reveal a great shot of the engine

Here's the back section

And finally i made some spot lights for when it has to Rally at night.

After rating and commenting ;) You have to watch this you tube clip with the volume up to hear this superb sounding engine;

Hope you like it, this is my favourite car i've built so far :)

Stunning! Really, this is awesome! I love the interior. Not a fan of the exterior though, but i just don't like the car type. Favorite part is the gear selector.

Thanks Will! I have a massive list of cars to build at the moment so unfortunately no, Austin Nomorinfo has built one of those http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/280104 I try to build things I've not seen in Lego before. I'm starting on another Porsche today :-)

I love the style of this car, is very pretty to the view. The modules are perfect and you find the way to do a Rallye superCar. Also the color and the styles of the interior. Que maquina !!!!!

I didn't mean any offense in any of my comments. I didn't mean to sound all negative. I'm sorry. I understand, but I can post a picture of the hinge I was talking about. It might help a future MOC. Do you want me to? Sorry again.

Quoting Iain Marsh Great fun though and one of two lottery win cars I'd be buying, the other being a Renault 5 Turbo 2.
Two great lottery cars to choose, two of my favourites. Maybe throw in an HF Integrale as well along with a good mechanic lol

Looks awesome, I really like the shaping on the sides and the interior is great. The steering wheel...very clever! Too bad the doors and hood don't open, but I definitely understand going for looks over function. Nice car!

I had the dubious honour of owning an MG Metro Turbo, on which this car was loosely based, many many years ago and can say that this is pretty accurate, the limitations of Lego stretching some details a bit. Yes, I can see the doors presenting a problem, what with half the door pods having to come with them. Great fun though and one of two lottery win cars I'd be buying, the other being a Renault 5 Turbo 2.

The doors will be able to open on this hinge: first it comes out (simular to my Enzo. Use an axle) then open on a regular door hinge. I did it on my 430 Scud. Do you get it? Yeah, but it's a perfect MOC except the doors. As Nick Barret said before, on an amazing MOC the smallest faults that would be ignored or unseen on other MOCs are very obvious. I'm not trying to be picky - just trying to give you some pointers so you can become even better.

Quoting Lego Builders Could you not blur out nearly every picture on future MOCs (it bothers my eyes and some people might want to see a big chunk of the car, not just a tiny spot)?
I'm sorry your eyes can't handle my cameras great quality photos ;). Nobody else has complained as i said you are hard to please lol...

Quoting Lego Builders I like the overall shape! I think it would be better if you added opening doors etc... If you have trouble opening the doors, you might want check out how they were opened on Firas' Pagani and Jens Matuschek's Ferrari 575. 4/5
I don't think even these master builders would be able to work out a way of opening these doors the body kit gets in the way. Looks are far more impotant than fuction to me and in order to make the doors open i would have to sacrifice looks, besides it's a race car, they can climb through the window lol. I must also point out that you are very hard to please.

Well it certainly looks good, even if it lacks function. Plenty of great details in the interior. Now I just have to listen to the engine.

Woah! Stunning MOC. All the details and features are great. The car is very detailed, with an excellent widebody kit and engine. It's a shame about not having openable functions, but it well and truely makes up for that in the looks department. Nice colour scheme too ;) Overall, very nicely done. Great work!
