Previously on I Choose You!, Caleb reached the mysterious Island Hideout where he suspects his Charmander was taken. While hiding in the grass, Caleb witnessed two Team Rocket members entering the base, giving him a window of opportunity. Close behind Caleb is Leon, who was allowed to borrow Dave's Kingler as means of transportation after beating Dave in a Pokemon battle. Jaeger and D decided to infiltrate a Team Rocket hideout located in Mt. Moon, in hopes that their Pokemon were taken there instead of the Island Hideout. Thus our story continues...
About this creation

The Island Hideout, Southeast of Pallet Town...

The door opens for the Team Rocket members, and they shuffle in.

As the villains turn away from the beach, Caleb breaks cover and bolts after them in a dead sprint.

The doors begin to close, and Caleb pushes himself even harder.

As the gap closes, Caleb dives through and...

Makes it!

Caleb's dive sends him straight into the Rocket Grunt's back, knocking them both over.

The Grunt hits his head on the floor and is knocked unconscious, the Pokeballs he carried roll off of the tray in all directions. The scientist wheels around, very surprised at the security breach.

Caleb: Give it up, man, I'm armed with Pokemon.

Scientist: You think I'm not equipped myself? I work for Team Rocket, everyone has Pokemon here! Go, Weedle!

Caleb sends out Tentacool and the Pokemon face off.

Caleb: Tentacool, use constrict!

Tentacool rushes forward and traps Weedle with its tentacles, squeezing the breath out of the enemy.

Weedle manages to wiggle free and stings Tentacool with its tail.

Tentacool staggers back, but shakes off the poisonous effects of Weedle's stinger.

Tentacool returns the poisonous attack with its own acid.

Tentacool then tackles the blinded Weedle into the air.

Caleb: Now tell me, where is my Charmander?
Scientist: Aah! Weedle!

Scientist: Not to worry, I'll just use these stolen Pokemon right here!

Scientist: Go, Pokemon!

A Geodude emerges from the ball, but is confused and afraid when his trainer is not present.
Scientist: Geodude, tackle that Tentacool!

Geodude, out of desperation, self-destructs in the scientist's face.
Scientist: Aaugh!

Caleb looks at the Pokeballs that he commandeered. Charmander may be in one of them, but they might also contain something even worse than a masochistic Geodude. Are they worth opening?
Meanwhile...
Island Hideout...

Leon finds a different entrance to the hideout and approaches the door.

Leon: Dang! It looks like I need a card key to open this door! Although, it does look pretty flimsy, maybe Kingler could knock it down for me.

Leon: Wait, what's that noise?

Leon peers into the distance, and sees a strange vehicle skimming across the water towards a different part of the island. It is driven by Team Rocket members, and is laden with crates, probably containing stolen Pokemon.

Perhaps one of them has a key that could open the door, and maybe they even have Leon's stolen Seel aboard. It may be worth intercepting, at the very least Team Rocket would be out a couple of men.
Meanwhile...
Mt. Moon Hideout...

D and Jaeger peer up through the hole in the cave floor at the guards, who still seem to be distracted.

Grunt 1: Rock, paper, scissors. Both rock again?! What's the matter with us?!

Jaeger and D quietly deploy their Pokemon to remove the guards.

Scyther emerges from its Pokeball and shocks the guards with a bloodcurdling Leer.

While the guards are frozen with fear, Bulbasaur sneaks behind them...

And tackles them both to the ground, knocking them unconscious.

D: Okay, Jaeger, these guys are out cold. Take a look at that riddle and see if you can crack it.
Jaeger: Will do.

Jaeger reads the riddle: A Pokemon move's name includes an element on the periodic table. The difference between the element's atomic number and the move's TM number is 3. The six-digit entry code begins with the number of the move, followed by the element's atomic number, and finally the numerical equivalent to the element's 2-letter abbreviated name, where A=1, B=2, etc.

D and Jaeger think hard to solve the puzzle, and hope that nobody notices that the guards aren't at their posts.
Everyone has choices, yay! Remember, if you aren't a character in the CYOA, you cannot choose for them. Only people who are in the CYOA can make choices.
Caleb: You've defeated the Scientist, but the explosion caused by the Geodude has probably raised the alarm. You can:
a) Open the three remaining Pokeballs now in hopes of finding your Charmander, but risk the wrath of more stolen Pokemon that may be capable of doing damage to you and your Pokemon (dangerous)
b) Take the Pokeballs with you but do not open them. They might be useful in a tight spot when there are no other options. However, not knowing if your Charmander is among them means that you would have to continue through the hideout. (dangerous)
c) Leave the Pokeballs, as they probably don't contain your beloved Charmander. They seem too dangerous to hold on to in your opinion. Continue through the hideout. (dangerous)
Leon: You are at the Island Hideout, but the door is locked. You can:
a) Intercept Team Rocket's vehicle and take whatever you can find. Card keys to gain entry without drawing attention, any items, and maybe even your stolen Seel. Risk having to battle two Rocket grunts at once. (dangerous)
b) Forget about the vehicle and blast the door down with Kingler's help. This is likely to attract attention. (dangerous)
D and Jaeger: Okay, so you two don't exactly have choices, but you have a riddle to solve. Figure out the six-digit code to gain entry into the hideout. Good luck!
So, there you have it. Sorry for the wait, I know that Callan was dying for this episode to come out. ;) The next episode won't be out for another couple of weeks, as I'll be on vacation. I hope to hear your guys' input on my riddle, I thought it was challenging but not ridiculously so. If you have ideas for riddles, or just want to help out with the CYOA and have a say in how things go, join the CYOA planning group, a link to it is located in the right margin of this page. Thanks for viewing, let me know what you think!

To tell you the truth I can't fully understand the riddle, so I'll go with Deus.
Deus got it right, so no worries. :) The answer goes like this: TM 23 is Iron Tail, and Iron is the 26th element on the periodic table. Fe is the abbreviation for iron, and f is the 6th letter in the alphabet and e is the 5th. Put them all together and you get 23-26-65, and you have your code. I'm going to do some different kinds of riddles and puzzles that aren't so number-related, so never fear. :) |
|

@ Storm: The riddle is being changed, but as soon as Cody invites me to his group again. Plus, the answer is in my comment. |

Very good. But it's getting more Generation Two-y. (I don't wanna give away the answer, but it's necessary.) The answer is Iron Tail, but, it does not fit in this CYOA for two reasons: Reason 1 is Iron Tail was introduced in Generation II. Reason 2 is that the Steel-type was ALSO introduced in Generation II. It's kinda like saying this CYOA is a crossover between the first and second generations of Pokemon. And you stated that this CYOA is only based on Generation I, which is what you said in episodes 3 and 4. So, uh, to fix that, make a GENERATION ONE involved question. Not a Generation II one.
Good point! You should help me out in the planning group to come up with better riddles. |

Sorry Cody, last time I bother you. How do you do that red effect for when a pokemon returns to it's pokeball?
I use GIMP. I add a new, transparent layer, then I use the loose select tool and get a rough shape. Then I use the alpha to selection tool and the pencil to do the fine detail. Once that's done, I turn the alpha off, and I have just the Pokemon selected. Then I use the fill bucket set at about 80% transparency to cover the Pokemon in red. The jagged beam is just drawn on with the pencil tool and the shift key for straight lines. |

Oh, 2 questions: 1, I know the answer to the riddle...
2. How do you do that shiny light effect and the grey picture effect? My C.Y.O.A is coming out tomorrow, and I need some help, Thanks Cody!
I use GIMP for my photo editing, the supernovas are a light filter effect and the desaturate tool in the color tab makes the photos black and white. Don't give the answer to the riddle yet, but if Stormbringer and Deus are stumped, then you can give them a hint if they ask for it. Do you have a group for your CYOA where I can help you? |
