Team Newbrick's entry into the 2011 SW Mocathalon category "Mix SW with another Lego Theme". I recently got my hands on some Pirates of the Caribbean sets - so I thought it would be cool to mix that up! And here's the result...
I created a video comic as I thought it would be a great idea to tell the Cantina scene! And prepare to see some swashbuckling :D
Get ready for the video comic :D This is the main part of my entry, as it shows you where the connection between SW and PotC. Make you have the sound turned on, or plug your headphones in because there is music and sound effects! Just click play to begin…..
EDIT: It has come to my attention that in some countries, you can not watch the film. Therefore, I have provided the individual panes over on my flikr account. I kindly put them in a folder in the right order :D Sadly, you won't be able to see the way-cool title animation, listen to the music or hear the sound effects but at least you can see all the great details and hopefully get a good laugh :)
Enjoy? I don’t really have much experience with making films, so that’s why some of the timing may be off but I’m quite pleased with it.
Now onto pictures of the MOC….
Sorry for the bad colourings on the pics, my lights don’t work too well on a large scale….
The equivalent of Luke’s Landspeeder, lets call it the Seaspeeder :)
Here’s my second favourite part of the whole MOC – the pier! After finding that brown wing part behind the sofa, I knew I had to use it for something…… To make the pier go at an angle!
The crane! The square window behind it is where the goods for the Cantina go….
I know Vader and Leia aren’t in the scene, but I thought the figures worked too well not to include them :D
How could you have a Pirates MOC without including Captain Jack and his sinking boat?
Here’s my favourite part of the MOC – the Wheel and Goblet logo! It took a lot of rebuilding to get the wheel at an angle. Polly the parrot watches over :)
Plenty of drinks can be purchased from behind the bar :)
How did Chewiee get under there? This shot proves that I actually made the sea with blue tiles stuck on a green baseplate, as opposed to using my blue baseplate :D
The SNOT booth!
Lets finish up with some images of the figures!
Luke Seawalker and Obi-Wan Greybeard.
Han Sparrow and The Admirals Daughter Leia.
Captain Darthbeard and the Imperial Troopers!
The Sea Monsters from the Cantina crowd.
The humans from the Cantina crowd.
Thanks for viewing! I hope you enjoyed my first attempt at both pirates and a video comic!

Dude! This is the perfect combination of themes! All the characters look great, and, of course, the Cantina is awesome. I'd really like to see this theme continued (Luke Vs Vaderbeard on the plank above the clouds).
That's a great idea :D Thanks!
The Jabbas barge scene will work as well because it already has a plank....

Luke SEAwalker? So simple, but ingenious, and I definitely had a laugh at it.
;) Thanks Alex!

Quoting George G. Thanks! I would have included more PotC jokes, but I've only watched the first film and if the story had more pirates things in then I thought the SW element may get lost.
I think you are right, the MOC already has a bit too many minifigs... Well done, I hope to see more Star Wars of the Caribbean MOCs.

This is really awesome! I eally liked the video and the way you made the story. Are you thinking of making other scenes? Because that would be great.
I was thinking of making the Jabbas barge scene, as it would work really well :)

The build is fantastic! Great details, too. The recreation of Star Wars scenes in a Pirate-ish setting was funny and well executed. Th only flaw is the overcrowded platform, you put too many redcoat stormtroopers. You didn't include many Pirates of the Caribbean jokes and references there, so that's more "Pirates+Star Wars" than "Pirates of the Caribbean+Star Wars". This looks like a great theme, I wish I had enough LEGO Star Wars minifigs to build it...
cool!

I applaud your creativity. I really enjoyed the pieces that were used to make all the characters. Fantastic use of piece (For the most part there is only one.) for Chewbacca. Congratulations, you have my like of FIVE smilies. :) :) :) :) :) :) Hey where'd that sixth smily come from? Oh well.
:) :) :) :) :) :) My favourite figure is Han Solo, just because that torso actually looks like his real one :P

Very nice entry, the build is great. 4 Points. Btw, did you embed the video on this moc or not? Because it didn't show up for me. And the reason that you can't watch the video in other countries is probably because you used music that you can't listen to in other countries.
The video is done now and you can watch it! Go go go!
