Darth Vader's Super Star Destroyer with 5800 parts.
About this creation
I had a small model at home of the Super Star Destroyer but I never payed any attention to it untill I heard that lego would release a building set of Darth Vader Super Destroyer. While looking for pictures and ideas I ran into Lasse Deleuran's version of it . There were also building instructions available for it.



Building the different parts went easy, but assembling the whole thing was a killing job. Although the basic structure is made with Lego Technic, the ship is very weak and difficult to handle if you don't want to break it. So I decided to change lots of the inside structure and make it stiffer. I also created a new "elastic" support that keeps the ship in ballance on a stand. (more pictures of this will be added soon in the construction journal for all of you who want to build this baby and having problems putting it together) In a way the building instructions seem to be ok, but show some missing links when it comes to putting it together...



I covered the whole surface with tiles. The center city is more or less like the building instruction show, but I added more details and I also created an integrated system that ables you to hang the super star destroyer to the ceiling. (without breaking it) More pictures in the construction journal comming up soon. That's all for now. Enjoy.

Next is the core ship (center of the droid control ship) 90 studs wide and about 130 studs high (with the command tower).

I absolutely LOVE the plating work on the hull! What a brilliant idea! I wish I had done that on my star destroyer (see my MOC). By the way.. I see we are both on the list for top 10 star wars LEGO!

It's very detailed but not that big. It's about 3,5 ft long. Must be about the same size of the set Lego is putting on sale in september.

Wow, simply amazing. The two different greys threw me off a bit but not enough to take away from the build itself. I agree with the guy below, the fact that you have so many pieces is insane! Great work but don't let it go to waste - take more detailed pics (like Steef said)!

Wow, VERY nice job here. Certainly awe inspiring. I would like to see more pictures of some of the details though...at least of the central city. Make it happen! ;)
