Africa / G.A.I.A. "Spitting Cobra" Mk IV
Good day everybody, may I introduce you to the prosperous nation of South Africa, an important ally of the Ethiopian Empire on itīs way to the stars. This alliance was one reason for the Ethiopianīs great head start in space exploration and colonisation, with South Africa being rich on natural resources, like diamonds and other treasures of the soil, as a source of money. In return, the Ethiopians shared their formidable technological knowledge with South Africa. Specialised in finding planets rich on resources and valuable minerals, South Africa could always afford the newest state of the art high technologies. On the civilian sector, as well as on the military. By the outbreak of the third alien war the "Spitting Cobra" Mk IV was the crown of south african fighter engineering.
About this creation
This fighter is being built in coopertion by "RMC Aeronautics" and "SAADS - South African Air Defense Systems". The design derives from Borderworld Engineeringīs "Lughnasadh Fire". With the integration of the sirian worlds into the G.A.I.A., RMC Aeronautics has taken over Borderworld Engineering and all designs were being produced under the new name.

The "Spitting Cobra" Mk IV shared several design aspects with the GAIA "Lughnasadh Fire" .
One of these things was an included FTL-drive.

It has a similar three engine arrangemant, like the Lughnasadh Fire, but with two of them attached externally to the body. A tribute to size and power. Also, if being hit or malfunctioning the two external engines colud easily be jettisoned.

Another parallel to the "Lughnasadh Fire" is the use of canards on this design.

An excellent performing fighter in low altitude...

...and high above the clouds!

Preparing a death-roll, ftw!

Flying side by side with a "Lughnasadh Fire" Mk II(!)

The pilots seem to do a little racing above the earth. No matter who wins in the end, this may become a photo finish!

Dogfighting with a Draggone "Komodo Dragon" .

The split nose (like a snakeīs tongue) allows a better forward view.

That cowardly b*s*a*d simply jumped away! Well, letīs enjoy the view...

The snakeīs head. Be careful, she bites!
Note the golden barley head on red ground, the sign of the alliance between Ethiopia and South Africa.

One of my favourite views!

Some impressions of the engines...

Cockpit...

...with head up display, mission computer...

"Get out of sight, please!"

...and a comfortable seat!

(Please excuse the crappy, badly made up pseudo hangar. I wish I had the parts for a real one, but this is at least better than just plain white.)

Thierry Onwuzuruike, South Africaīs best pilot!

No one hates the Draggone more than him. He was once captured by a Draggone scientist, who tuned him into that what he is now!

And by shooting down as much Draggone as possible he will make every one of them pay for what has happened to him!

All Terrain Vehicle. Yeah, I know, Iīm kinda out of order at the moment. I should try myself at building a Viper, maybe a double seater...

Quoting Parrington Levens Love this Moc man, and this theme, I think we should maybe do a small series of Africa builds? I have a group for it everything? Might be a fun segway for a minute. I'm thinking of a microscale ship of somesort, another fighter and maybe a land vehicle, probably all rolled in one Moc.
Great idea! Still need to enlarge my collection of bricks for some new builds, since I don't want to take everything I've got apart. Anyways, I've got already some ideas. An ATV (got a cool full suspension chassis lying around) and a smaller fighter/recon flyer. ~Marc

Quoting Peter Mowry Wow bro!!! I really like how you capture a comic style look to your MOCs. The Fighter is amazing. I hope you don't mind if I use your creative tricks for my MOC creation. I was planning on making a dog fight scene with my next fighter I am creating. Anyway excellent job on all the detail throughout on the Cobra. Keep it up!!!
Thanks, buddy! As for the creative tricks - go for it! Itīs an honour to hear that someone can learn something from me! ~Cheers

Quoting Mihe Stonee very cute looking ;-) ! But the pictures you've made are wonderfull ! How did did you handle this ? Do you use a speciell programm for it ?
Yep, I use GIMP, a freeware program pretty similar to Photoshop and not too difficult to use. If you're inrerested in that stuff you may join us in the group >It isn't rocket surgery<, it's all about photo editing there! ~Thanks for your nice words, Marc

Quoting El Barto ! Wicked fighter, Dude! Excellent work on those shots, too, lots of new action, with the blur effects and all. Nice mix of space and atmosphere. Wolf man looks like he has an ax to grind!
Thanks, my friend! It was a little time intensive, but as usual worth the effort. I especially like how the low altitude and racing pictures turned out. The blur makes them look so,... alive! Yeah, Thierry is pretty Pl55ED off.

Quoting Parrington Levens I like it Well I don't like it, I luv it! Fantastic shape, colors and photo editing. Those teeth are so mean looking, what a touch! And the leaf sticker! Well that's now official for the theme I'd say, lol. The GAIAverse just gets bigger and better mate, what an awesome, lively Moc this is. And the mangled face pilot, great touch, personal payback for Thierry, die Draggone!!! Great build, and it really points to the sad state of the pages community at the moment that non AFOL's prefer to comment on their friend's garbage than on quality mocs like this. Ispiring mate, cheers...
Inspiring! Iīm feeling very honoured. In fact, I took my inspiration from your Africa stuff. The 'Tiger' spread out the seed of a yellowish styled fighter and the 'Lion-cub' with the leaf sticker was the final impulse. I knew I had these stickers somwhere, from the red tractor set, which I bought because of the windsreens. Still need to use them, hehe. :-S Sad thing that the ammount of quality MOCs (Thanks for calling my stuff so!) seems to have decreased a little here on the pages. Hopefully just a summer deep! (I know its winter in Australia.) Well, if this doesnīt take off I can still rebadge it as Anakins starfighter how it should have looked like, or so. NEVER! Anyways, thank you my friend for the kind words! ~Greetings, Marc

Quoting Parrington Levens Yes, that windscreen is a must have, I SO have to get that darn set. Yeh, my first comment got moderated, but the second got through to my amazement! Cheers man,
Luckily I bought two of them. First for the windscreens, second for the cool helmets (Which seem to be the first really useful Star Wars helmets ever, imo. Just the right thing for my elite pilots, who refuse to wear standard G.A.I.A. uniform. Ha, divas! But, their commanders allow it, as long as they do their job properly! And they do, they are elites for a reason!) and third for the big black slopes that you use as intakes on the Euro-Systems fighters. Good for future projects! ~Marc

Quoting Parrington Levens that cocpit is awesome...
Thanks, again! (My answer to your previous comment got moderated, dunno why! Perhaps, because I said something against Star Wars. ;-P) I like that cocpit too and the imperial V-Wing provided me with just the right windscreen.
