HALO Reach Scorpion Tank [Motorized]
UPDATE 22 sept. 2011 : BUILDING INSTRUCTIONS ! (Video included) Tracking down a crashed covonant ship...
About this creation

All right first of all a movie showing it actually IS motorized !

I was the first to come up with a motorized scorpion tank (first version) and up to this day I still seem to be the only one. A Technic / Halo combinations seems to be rare.
Anyway,
unstoppable it is, can it travel through high grass ? ...no it can't but it can try and go back all by itself.
Suspension worked out great though I think I need to addapt the rear springs a bit, during the build I forgot the tank is heavier at the back.
Now some more pictures.

From left to right;
Mr. Pa :"These Spartan suits do look tough."
Mr. B :" yeah, not much space for my lucky fang though."
Mr. Gio : "peep, this armor is really tight.... !!!"
Miss K :"don't seem to have that problem."
Mr. Ph : "pfff, Spartans, I bet they're not so tough in a bedroom anymore."

Back onto the Scorpion Tank, any halo fan would see how inaccurate the cannon is.
I became tired of not finding the right bricks and good construction so I eventually just dumped my reference pictures and used my imagination. It looks cool too I think.
For the interested; what you need to make this motorized construction are these key parts:
  • Technic Gear 16 Tooth 16 of them
  • Technic Gear 12 Tooth Double Bevel 4 of them
  • Technic Gear 24 Tooth 2 of them
  • Shock Absorber 6.5L 4 of them
  • M-motor and of course a battery box to power it.

and of course some axles, axle pins, single angle connectors (#1) and perpendicular joiners and 4

If you couldn't see the movie showing off the motorized scorpion I have this small compensation here,
it's a stop-motion project I'm working on, tghis is just a try-out.

I hope you like it.

Quoting Dan Ibeling I download the instructions, but there is no main gun in the instructions.
Yes, I'm sorry about that, I didn't add it because my version of the main gun isn't so accurate compared to the real thing. perhaps you can design your own gun ?

Out of all my explorations into MOC scorpion tanks, this one is one of the very best. Nice detailing, especially on and near the treads, not to mention the front plate, which looks great. Also I have to commend you for using, at least for the most part, normal lego parts for your troopers. Although I love customized legos, I always admire someone who makes an effort to create from what they have in regards to base lego elements.

haha its still awesome, but the only improvement that you did make, where ( by the looks of it) chance from a skull tank to a scorpion tank. but it still looks great, and if it shall be able to go through the high grass, ten you need to make what 5-7 cm freehight and you cant, becasue then it wouldnt be a tank, but a ofroad with belt wheels. great job i love it and the snowy surrondings looks great.

Great that we have someone who actually created a motorized Scorpion, I congratulate you for that. I'm not too familiar with Halo details, but I think that the whole thing is a bit too small. Oh, and @zach stapleton, it comes from the scout trooper from the SW Ep. III Turbo Tank. Anyways, great job!

Quoting Matt David Very nice, Seb! I have questions: (1)Are your using XL or medium Power Function motors? (2)How many motors are you making use of here? (3)Can the tank turn? Sorry for the inquisition, but I've been developing my quad-track for over six months and this is the first vehicle like it I've seen recently.
I'm using only one medium motor so it can't steer. my tank is pathetic in comparison to what you are building really :p

Quoting Deus Otiosus Very nice, especially seeing the video, but for some reason, maybe because I don't know anything about Halo, it doesn't work for me.
well, you don't need to know anything about halo to like a motorized tank in a snowy environment. I guess it's the odd quadropod tank design or the childish look of the supersoldiers along. that's halo :P thanks

Dude, this is one sweet model, and looks like it can handle some rough terrain. I must say I do like myself as a Spartan, even a Halo one! hehe, and Bones was grumpy as ever; perfect! And Chris, was SO Chris, lol. Man that next vid actually looked great, nice animation mate, you are a serious artist, thanx for sharing such a fantastic Moc with us all. Cheers, Parr...
