As I'm not rich enough to afford the real thing, I had to improvise :P Please enjoy my custom Republic Gunship, which has served my men well for at least two years now. It may not be nice and white, but hey, it gets the job done.
About this creation
Text pertaining to each photograph can be found at the bottom of the desired photograph.
The front of the ship, also where most of the weapons systems are located. We'll come back to these.
The rear of the ship, with a secondary cannon (like the real thing) and two turrets, which are Athanasios Lazarou's design. They are featured in his Halo Reach Falcon. But we'll come back to these too.
The cockpit, with windshield open. The ship's cockpit is not sealed, and the troop bay has no doors, unlike the real one. :(
Now...on to the...WEAPONS!!!
The wing guns, top and bottom views. The bottom gun with the ammo drum delivers 48mm depleted uranium rounds at a dazzling rate of 300 rounds per minute. Yeah!! The gun on top of it is a more simple, yet effective, heavy laser cannon. Just what you need to eradicate some clankers, or just to blow the roof off the local BK at 3am in the morning when THEY AREN'T OPEN TO FEED YOUR TROOPS!! AH MUAHAHAHAAH!!
Just a shot of the bottom and the weapons just in from the guns which I just showed you. It's simple: two heat-seeking missiles (lock target function also available) and one "smart" bomb are located on each wing.
Ah, my favorite part, the side-mounted turret machine guns. The design of these turrets is Athanasios Lazarou's. You can find them on his Halo Reach Falcon and the instructions for them on his page. I would put a link up but I'm too lazy. But anyways, thanks Athanasios!! They were just what I needed!!
The one thing I did add to his design: an extra barrel.
The guns fit into the "doors" of the ship like this. All I need to do is string them "through" the gunship and voila, extra weapons. They can be added or removed as necessary for each mission.

The back of the ship's interior. It serves as a mini armory, with four guns and four grenades. Also, you can see part of the turret "chain".
One final pic of the ship blasting away...and sorry for my hand. Off she goes, preparing to smash some droids!! And raid some BKs!!

Indeed. I thought about doing that and I really need to get around to doing it. I actually scavenged those pieces from an ancient Lego soccer set my parents found on eBay. Thanks for the reminder! |
