934 km of roads trough Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany & Denmark lay between our home and Legoland. Eleven hours of traffic separates us from Izegem and Billund. It was all worth the ride. This is a journal of our trip to the birthplace of the brick, between the second and the fifth of June 2011. We had an awesome time. This should reflect that feeling. Hope it catches on you…
The Hotel entrance.
This astmatic dude welcomes you to the lobby of the hotel. He had a funny name, if only I'd remember it...
The wall behind the welcome desk is filled with minifigs. A magnifying bike gives you a glimpse of the variety.
Ollie the dragon is the mascotte of the hotel. He is everywhere, here in its largest form.
Every hall has a brickpool where kids can build whatever and whenever they like to.
There's a MOC contest daily, each month for another Lego theme. Winners get a nice box of Lego!
Lennaert played and won.
Each room has its brick sign.
We stayed in room 322 at castle street.
TLG attention for detail is huge. As you can see, even the fries at the hotel restaurant are brick shaped!
The hotel is filled with genius sculpture. Here's just a few...
The entrance hall to Legoland.
Here's something you don't see everyday: The Coca Cola Company shares its advertisement with another brand.
This way please.
I've been to LEGOLAND California before (in fact, I also lived in the same city as where it was located, too) a few times myself. Anyway, I was unaware that LEGO even made their french fries shaped like LEGO...or do they only do that at LEGOLAND Billund? I was also unaware that LEGOLAND also gave daily contests for builds. As far as I know, LEGOLAND California only had monthly contests. Hopefully, when I get back to California in the future, they'll start doing daily contests so I can enter them and win things. I've got to step up in the LEGO MOC game.
Wow, looks like a very cool time! Your son played and won twice? That is awesome! He is quite the builder. I need to call Lee Jones so we can raid that minifig wall.....Thanks for sharing that great trip! (I expect one of Legoland soon.) ~UC
