A dio of the scene depicted in the director's cut of Avatar, where Na'vi mounted on Direhorses and Banshees hunt a herd of Sturmbeest.
About this creation
The hunter and the hunted; the banshee is supported only by the thin clear piece below it, and I think it's my best flying effect thus far.
The pack of viperwolves. I scrounged enough pieces to make 3 of them.
This is officially the SECOND Sturmbeest on Mocpages, thanks to William Pugh. Haha. He beat me to it. But I like mine, I'm quite happy with it.
My new banshee; it was completely overhauled. I streamlined the head, redid the bottom jaw, slightly altered the color scheme, gave it a harness and a rider, gave new wingtips to the main wings (credit for that goes to William Pugh), new rear wings, new tail (credit of that also to William), discovered that cool way to do the eyes, and added the air intakes in the front (haha I win on that one William, and like I prophesied a couple months ago, the key was that one piece!). So I LOVE the new banshee.
Death from above, a cool shot.
The banshees head, with the sturmbeest below. Dontcha love those eyes? I actually was lucky that, as I pulled the lever out of the socket it broke and left that black slit, which makes the pupil look even better. You can tell in other pictures.
The new wings, credit for the front wingtips goes to William Pugh. The new wings are more movie-accurate.
Another angle of the hunt, similar to the main picture. I wanted to give a little splashing effect to the mud, check that out around the sturmbeests feet.
The whole diorama in all of its Pandoran glory.
Fourth Wallish Area!
Alright, so this was a super mega fun build. It took me forever to get around to it (sorry to those of you who are fans of my Avatar stuff), but Im glad its done. I displayed this in early May at Brickmagic 2011.
Thanks for looking guys!

I'm loving it all, but I've got to say that my favourites are the viperdogs/viperwolves and the banshee/ikran. Great scene! |

Very cool animals, I like the sturmbeest, and I love that flying dragon that I forgot the name. And the land scape is very cool to. I uploaded photos of the finished tank, to hard to make from view alone though. |

I like the banshee -- very nice. Hey, do you have any suggestions on tree construction, I am trying to learn and like what you have here... |

WOOT! WOOT! Haha. And p.s., I hate mine. But yes, great creation! I love it. Much better in person. You know, its hard to write these things when you comment on it in person. But great build, as always, and be looking forward to BrickMagic, 2012! |
