About this creation
I have recently finished my Bricksburg Airfield (I will upload pictures of it soon), and this is one of its vehicles. Though many of you have never seen or even heard of this vehicle, I guarantee this creation has been built to look exactly like the actual thing (I wish I had a picture of one so you could compare) in minifig-scale. It is a heavy-duty cargo loader used to load and unload heavy freight from the interior of a plane. After several long days of tedious effort, my father and I have been able to make two “scissor” contraptions that are able to lift up to half-a-pound of weight up and down.
How does the real thing operate? The driver steers up next to the cargo hold of the plane (which is most often in its belly). To load, the driver first raises his half of the surface (see picture #1 below). Then, once he reaches the right height, he raises the larger surface with the cargo to match his surface’s height (picture #2). Then, with little rollers on the surfaces, the cargo is rolled in and out of the plane (picture #3).
