"Save As".

Thank you for these, they helped ALOT. But I have just one question: I may be completly stupid for not figuring this out, but how do I save it as a normal image? Not in GIMP format?

I know this is a terrible image, but it's all I could find. http://koti.mbnet.fi/~bigfoot/bts/bts_pulse.JPG I don't really agree with the gauss rifle shots, though, which look like spiral-y lasers. I just wish the computer games would let you do things that you can do in the tabletop game, such as kicking or Death from Above.

I always figured the pulse-lasers looked more like your laser cowboy effect than the beaded beam. Of course, most of my Battletech knowledge comes from Mechwarrior, so that would definitely skew my perception. Also, speaking of being pedantic, ask Awe about my use of the word Future-ey.

Well, the books just refer to "darts of energy", Mechwarrior 2 and Mechcommander have them as starwars style bolts, Mechwarrior 3 has them as a sustained beam, Mechwarrior 4 and Mechcommander 2 have them as beadybeams, and in Mechwarrior 3015 they're Lostech. It's really a matter of personal preference.

Small flashes are just like the big ones, just drawn with a higher zoom and smaller brush. Lights... personally, I can't do those. Never really tried. Maybe you could try playing with the lighting effects? http://docs.gimp.org/en/plug-in-lighting.html

Could you possibly post on how to do lights, like the kind that aircraft and mecha use to see each other in the dark? Or like small flashes? Thanks in advance. ^Blub^
