Well then, here it is; my Audi R8 is finally finished !!!!
So it goes like this. After buying a few lego technic sets and learning the new “way of lego” I decided to make my first moc with this new bricks.
Can’t say it was easy; it took a lot, but I am really please with the final result. I think the car looks great !!!
Features:
-V8 engine
-RWD
-4speed gear box
-Full independent suspension
-Steering.
It was hard to get all the curves and proportions right, lots of trial and error; but I have no complains. However, I had tons of fun, this is a huge step for me since my last creation the “old school concept supercar” and I just can hope to continue learning and improving on my skills as a builder, especially on the mechanical features which is, and I think you will agree with me on this one, what lego technic are all about.
Please, feel free to comment!!! Hope you Enjoy!!!

Definitely the best R8 out there, and one of the best cars overall. I would buy that from you. You didn't by chance build it in LDraw at all did you? |

This is a really professional Technic - like building technique, as in the Fiorano GTB - style. Sometimes less is more... Will there be any instructions some day? |

Really great job on this one too - another of my favourite cars. Have a look at some of mine - I'm trying to blend the old style technic with the new stuff and I'd be interested what you think. I've also got into using dental floss to transmit force over distance for things like gear box to selector linkages and a braking system which I see is a function you don't have yet. Brakes are hard and it would be great to have someone else pioneering it to compare notes!! The same with a clutch which I've used for the last few models. I'm currently working on my first replica - an Aston Martin V8 Vantage. I'm really impressed with your accuracy of proportion and your capture of the "feel" of the car. Suggested next model - Pagani Zonda - I reckon you'd nail it with your style. How long do these take you to do?
Hi Jon, First of all.....YOUR CARS ARE AWESOME...you have such a unique style, I would say state of the art old style building !!!!
I love it. Any way, I don't see a problem on blending in some studless building in to it, like you did with the GT1 LMP, it can be of great help.
I am building an Aston as well, the one 77, no breaks or clutch.....sorry; but right now I,m focused on structural building systems and finishing details...
Hope to see the Vantage soon : ) |

A genuinely excellent MOC. Very neatly built too (like an actual LEGO Technic set). The only thing I'd change is, as this is RWD and the real R8 is AWD, to make it into the GT3 race version (which is RWD only). Very much a 5 star car though : ) Thanks for the comment, and very accrued by the way. The thing is that my idea was to make it awd, that’s why I picked this model. But I had some trouble on the way and in the end it came out as a RWD. Anyway, I’m already working on a new project and AWD is a must.

Okay, I've looked at the pictures again. This thing and the way you took the pictures, right out of the brochure. You must have had it as a reference? This should be a custom kit in the Audi Catalog, along with key chains and cargo racks. Fine work! |

Immediately recognizable! Excellent rendition, saw one of these in a showroom, cost more than my first house! My wife got the Q5, couldn't talk her into this...No room for a booster seat. Oh well... Awesome build! |
