An entry to Lwc Guy's "Flexible Fig Contest," This 8 by 8 vignette pictures a sneaky, black ninja guy in an awesome, sneaky ninja pose. The vignette itself pictures a Japanese Shinto shrine amidst bamboo and jungle vines. There is also a short set of "how to" pictures at the end of this post. Enjoy!
About this creation
Who doesn't like ninjas? They are stealthy, they carry cool weapons, and they can do awesome gravity defying ninja moves! I personally have no idea what the figure in this vignette is actually doing, but hey! It looks cool!

The construction of the pose requires two modified lever handles. Using a bit of fine adjusting, you can fit the wide end of this lever handle half way into the arm socket. This creates a somewhat sturdy strait extension from the body. You can then easily slide a cone brick over the top of the lever to act as a sleeve. The leg construction is easily seen in the picture.
The modified lever handle allows for a hand, detached from a regular minifig arm, to be wedged into the wide end of the cone. You can then add a cape, and slide one of those neck/stud pieces just enough onto the neck to give clutch power.
Finally, you can add the bowed head and hood to complete the pose.

And, to end, a somewhat areal shot that reveals the head connection. Does anyone know if those neck/stud pieces come in black?

I saw this... tried to do it myself... failed... came back... and saw the tutorial. Oops. Disregarding that failure... epic vignette. I especially like those curved quarter circle pieces, they really add nice texture. |

I also love to mess with minifigs. And yes there is one in black, I have only one though. You get them in the old version of Anakin Skywalker's ship |

The scene is nice and the Ninja looks awesome! Although, you don't need to say Ninja "Assasin" because Ninjas were trained in espionage, sabotage, and assassination. |

How did I miss commenting on this? Well better late than never I suppose...
Your score: 5 points for the photos, 5 for the vig, and 10 for a very original brick-build pose.
That's a perfect score of 20. |

Tut, tut. Does the 2 stud overhang rule really take into account a pair of katanas? Typically, this kind of rule refers merely to actual building brick overhang -- not minifigure accessories or plants. We'll let the judges decide. I also noticed some greenery overhang too! Note that I am trying to help you with your entry. |

Actually, there are parts far more appropriate, without modifying, too. Do tell!

The ninja looks awesome, though I wonder if there was a head/connecter peice that would make the head bow a little more naturally. The ninja looks like his neck is broken. But the arms are awesome the scenery looks great. Your shrine looks like a micro scale Torii Gates. As always, fantastic work! Thanks! I do agree though. His head is a bit... unhealthy looking at best. I will have to shop around Bricklink to see if something else could be used instead.

This is a great MOC, however, The rules say your only allowed a 2 stud overhang on each side. Unlucky, i am telling you that your entry is invalid. Tut, tut. Nice Paul (once again), by the way, the neck piece stud does come in black, I have two of them. They are from (Lego Star Wars) Anakin's Interceptor star fighter from Episode 3, at least that's where I got them. Yes. I'm starting to think from the info you and LegoBob 123 have given, that that set is the only place where they come. Bricklink here I come! |
