last year I experimented with a combining robot mech I labelled OTTO (i can't remember what it stood for now)
Here is my latest attempt to update the concept.
About this creation
The O.T.T.O. twins, better known as Luey and Duey, are dock worker bots. They operate as loaders and repair droids. When faced with a cargo neither one of them is strong enough to handle alone they combine into their OTTO form, doubling their strength and increasing their height. In combined form they posses 6 limbs as opposed to their individual forms that only have 4.
Depending on which drone is "on top" determines which one controls the OTTO form.
Colour - purple
function - cargo lifter droid
serial number - ott/511a
motto - got crates?
character - easy going, always making jokes, sometimes practical jokes, at his twin's expense.
colour - black
function - repair drone and supervisor
Serial number - OTT/511b
motto - get back to work knuckle heads!
character - Duey can be described in one word, bossy. He takes charge in any given scenario, but does so by bullying others into doing what he wants. His speciality is repairs, though he has been known to handle lifting duties when necessary. Despite looking identical to his twin, their processors are quite different, he's much more intelligent and focused on any task, which his twin sees as perfect material for jokes.
Colour - purple top, black bottom.
function - heavy lifting
serial number - OTT/511a1
motto - whoa it's high up here!
Character - largely unchanged from Luey's except for gaining some limited knowledge of repairs. Much stronger than his Luey form, he throws crates around like toys. Slightly more sensible thanks to character bleed from Duey.
colour - black top, purple legs.
function - mechanic
serial number - OTT/511b1
motto - broken? not any more.
character - a much more relaxed version of Duey's. Still a go getter and coordinator, he seems to be more inclined to "ask" rather than "demand" others follow his instructions. Thanks to bleed through from Luey, he also is more inclined to "get his clamps dirty" though he still prefers to have his hands inside a machine rather than on a box. This form tends to only be needed when repairing large machinery such as static crane assemblies. A bit of a show off though, he takes pride to a new level of arrogance.
I'm about 50% happy with how this turned out. I like the slightly cartoony look of the two robots and the six limbed hunchback combined mode is more or less what I was aiming for.
I'd still like to figure a way to hide the second head, it's a bit too obvious hanging off the back there. Maybe for the next combiner attempt I'll figure out a way to hide it better.
not quite as "studless" as I normally try to make my micro mecha. Mostly because this is just a prototype to test out the combination system.
The design is simple, yet effective. And the combinations are almost near endless. As for Ideas, Look at my Zephyr/Seraph combiner mechs for ideas or anything. Only thing I ask, is if you decide to use one for an idea, please give me credit.
