Set #8089 "Hoth Wampa Cave" review
omaigodimstillalive! Yes, I live. I've got a few things to post, but in the mean time I have a review of the awesome set "Hoth Wampa Cave". Pop some popcorn, turn down the lights, sit back and relax and enjoy the show!
About this creation
Building

Here are all the bags together. 3 bags in total. A good variety of parts.

Here are the contents of Bag One. Nothing too special.

Here is bag one completely built, it's the cockpit of the Snowspeeder.

Contents of bag 2.

Bag two completed. The snowspeeder is now complete, and is actually pretty sturdy. I really like it.

Contents of bag 3.

Bag 3 completed. The cave is pretty neat, and there are a couple cool play features.

Play features

Through the bog men!
Wait? How did this get here? Oh well, you get a nice look at my photography skills. A needed break anyway.

The lightsaber launcher. You press the thing down and it flys out. It's pretty cool.

The cockpit opens up.

Tow cable goes out pretty far.

Luke's hanging 10 dudes!

The flap opens up.

Minifigs

All quiet in the Backyard.
Again? Oh well, another nice break.

Zev Senesca front. I'm a big fan of jumpsuits, and this is no exception.

Kudos to TLG for the back printing. It really makes it come alive.

Luke Skywalker front. I'm not a huge fan of the hat, doesn't seem to rest right on their heads.

Once again, awesome job for back printing!

The front of the Wampa. He seems to be a bit cartoonish, but I really love the design. The chicken made me laugh.

Here's the back of the Wampa. I love the texturing.

There is an awesome new arm piece for the Wampa. It allows it to hold a minifig, maybe make you're own Frankenstein monster?

Score

Albert!
Well, we needed a break anyway *Whistles*.

Playability: 7/10; There are a few neat features, but can be a bit lacking.
Parts: 6/10; There are really only standard pieces, plates and slopes. The Wampa is new though.
Price: 4/10; $41 seems a bit over priced for the pieces.
Minifigs: 8/10; There are some nice exclusive figs here. The Wampa and Luke. The Sev has been seen before as a generic pilot. That's what detracts here.
Overall appeal: 9/10; Overall a neat little set that has some neat pieces and a lasting appeal.

This is one of those few sets I feel like keeping together.

would like to apologize about our behavior in the 4% group. I just got a little involved in the conversation when I joined. I don't know what the other guys were thinking, but Im sure they would also like to apologize to you. We should have been more accepting of your opinion.

Quoting W. Mark Hey Matthew, I hate to comment on something other than the actual page (which is a nice review, good work) like a complete jerk, but we really need you to judge everything for the Purist Contest. If you could hurry up and get those scores in, that would be great. Thanks!
I totally forgot! Thanks for letting me know, I've been a bit busy.

Cool! This was one of my Christmas gift choices last year. I got the Grievous starfighter, though. The random pics were good and clear, kinda close to HD even. I'd use the wampa for BFII MOCs like the instant action assault of wampas vs rebels.

It just came out in January. That's why you didn't receive it :P. Thanks, just a few shots of mine from my Flickr I'd thought I would share. Ah Hunt mode, I love all of them.
Quoting Michael Kringe :----: I have this set, too! I like, that it contains a Snowspeeder and the Wampa is great, too.
Sweet! Yeah, both the cave and Speeder are pretty cool.
Quoting Deus Otiosus :----: Oh, I don't really thik it's worth its money, because of the wampa. Contract sets are too expensive anyways, so I only buy those really good. Like the landspeeder!
I bought it because the Wampa, and the fact it had more then just the cave. Wasn't too bad of a deal.
