The year is 2913 on the planet Ineo. Human mining colonies have been established on some regions of Ineo for nearly a century. However, Ineo's vast resources have finally caught the eye of the Vonkat, a hostile alien species. The Vonkat have organized task forces to take out all human mining operations, and steal their wealth. Teams of human mercenaries have been swarming to Ineo at the prospect of work. The Blazing Rogues are one such team. There are five members in the Rogues: Jynx (blue), Lynx (white), Sphynx (camo green/black/brown), Atticus (Green), and Judge (blue-black). The had been posted at the Dragon Mines for several years, never facing any serious threats. Until now. The Vonkat have turned towards the north, sending a large force to crush the Dragon Mines and any humans they find. After a brutal arial raid that takes out part of the mines, the entrance, and their Heavily Armored All-Terrain Transport, the Blazing Rogues find themselves guarding the mine entrance, giving the villagers time to escape down the mines. Several village defenders join the fray. Atticus was killed when the HAATT was hit, and Jynx was also knocked out inside the back. The other three Rogues headed off to the mine, digging down for some brutal fighting. In the battle, two of the three villagers are killed, as well as Judge.
The Vonkat commander sees the grenade thrown at him by Sphynx in the mine shaft. "Oh ****!"
The grenade is supposed to be in midair. If you can't imagine that, just consider it to be a Molotov Cocktail.
This shows Lynx, the last villager, and the dead Judge fighting outside of the guard station. Two Vonkat are visible in the background.
A special forces Vonkat sniper, taken out by a headshot. BOOM! Headshot.
This is The leader of the three traitorous humans. Identifying himself as the War Doctor, he was originally part of the Blazing Rogues. In one particularly nasty mission, the War Doctor was wounded. Heavy fire forced the Rogues to leave him. The Vonkat helped him recover, fortifying him with a mechanical arm to replace what he had lost, as well as many robotic organs to replace those damaged. He has to wear air tanks filled special compounds, which renders him partially deaf. He is, however, a tactical genius. He carries a pulse rifle equipped with a grenade launcher, as well as an energy sword. In the background is Jynx, finishing off the second of the defecting human twins. Also in the distance is the overturned HAATT, which was only given a quick once-over by the War Doctor and his henchmen.
After waking up under the HAATT, Jynx realizes his buzzgun is broken, so he creates a makeshift chainsaw arm blade and grabs a knife. As the War Doctor and men take off towards the main battle, Jynx takes out the first guard (see below). Hearing this, the other turns around, only to be tackled by the chainsaw blade.
Another angle of the bloody tackle.
The first guard.
A two-person treaded ATV. Equipped with two machine guns, a spotlight, an exhaust pipe, working front suspension, weapon holder, and dual working rear treads. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to post this close-up shot in the contest entry.
The flipped HAATT with Atticus lying motionless under the cockpit. The HAATT is equipped with two rocked launchers, two gatling cannons, and a host of machine guns. The HAATT boasts working front suspension, an unfolding back gate, firing rockets, spinning gatling cannons, brake/headlights, and a sniping platform.
Some Vonkat taken out by Lynx, bodies riddled with bullets.
The uncovered mine shaft where Sphynx is working on collapsing the tunnel. An unlucky villager was crushed in the blast that opened the roof.
Another angle into the mine tunnel, showing two special forces Vonkat. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough pieces to build a longer tunnel.
A Vonkat super-soldier. A crack shot, he dual-wields needle guns. His experimental armor rends him nearly unstoppable.
Another shot of the flipped HAATT, showing the underbelly turret and one of the two gatling cannons.
A bird's-eye view of the main battle.
The mine shaft with a grenade thrown by the last villager in the center. The Vonkat on the left is diving for cover.
A view of the side of the mine entrance, with a dead villager.
The interior of the mine entrance's guard tower, featuring a (now broken) spinning chair, control console, and gun holder.
The two-person ATV.
Front view of the undamaged HAATT.
Chillin' in the HAATT.
I made this scene for the Brickarms Last Stand Contest. The scene had to be minimum 32x32, presenting a fighting force of a few against many.
It's not bad for my first diorama, but I don't think I'll do many that aren't for contests.
