Being not truly original i could not resist to build another one of my favourite American trucks. This time it is a refer combo, which is a tractor and refrigerated trailer. The moc is in 1:16 scale and has Power Functions to drive it around.
The tractor is a Peterbilt 379 Exhd with sleeper, and extended wheelbase. The whole thing is chromed out, including some chassis parts. A big job was to hide the PF engines and cables for the eye. To achieve that the steering engine is build in very low, and the engine is on top of it. Both of the rear axles are driven by a XL engine which is geared down to generate enough torque to pull the full combo. Receiver and batterybox are in the sleeper.
About special custom parts… I used my own chromed parts, and worked together with Bricklinker Erik (Bricks4all) for the engraving of the chromed bricks. It gives a very nice effect to remove the chrome and have the graving back to the original color, keeping the rest chromed. Besides of that most of it is oldskool red and black.
I tried to detail it as much as possible, compared to earlier trucks I have build. The thing is around 4 kgs and 4000 bricks. It took me about 2 months to build. Hope you like it.
Amazing, as usual. Very nice trucks BOW! I am building one about the same scale(not copied or anything, I would have asked you), but I'm having trouble finding something for the top of the exhaust stack. I see that you used something like a small rim? I would appreciate it if you could tell me what you used, because it looks great! :D Thanks! (I'll get pictures up soon.)
Wow - absolutely beautiful - the detailing is exceptional! I'm amazed it only needs one XL Motor for drive, my current WIP has two stacked XLs, which are then geared down twice from small to medium cogs, and it still struggles! What gearing is used in this? Great build, one of the best trucks on MOCpages (the rest of the top 5 are built by you too!!). 10/10
