About this creation
Well, I've got some work on the house that needs to get done so I've got to put my bricks away for a couple weeks... sad, I know. I'll still be able to get to them but they'll be in the garage and it's not going to be very easy to get to them. So in the process of all this, I have to tear down some "concept" work that I threw together. Since none of them are final mocs (obviously) and just "ideas" that I had it's not a big loss. Hopefully someone can take one of these ideas and make something nice out of it.
So to start us off, my daughter has been watching a lot of Peter Pan and Pirates of the Carribean recently so I decided to make her a little pirate ship playset for her to play with.

It's not a "finished" ship of course. No sails and I never finished tiling it, but it was just for her to have fun with.

This one I'm going to leave together until the last possible minute. She plays with this thing all the time. "Daddy, can I go in the Lego room and play with the pirate ship?" I mean, who could say "no" to that?

Here's a concept work I did for a ship's hallway. It was going to be an experiment in lighting blah blah blah.
I was going to try to light it from different angles to give a "spooky" look to it and then have some creature slithering off in the distance.

Again, just a concept that never made it to final stages.

But it was a good concept and I may come back to it later. I even did the floor with clear and grill work so it could be lighted from underneath.

Here's one that I've had sitting on the table for about 6 weeks now and it's just time to let it go. The original idea was to have a beast stepping through a dimensional portal and on one side, he's an organic creature and on the other a mechanical beast of somesort.

I could never get the portal itself to work right. This wasn't the final concept on that. I used a lot of clear rings and even some fire work to get the portal itself to come alive but it never quite worked out.

And finally, a moc from my daughter. I was building one day and she wanted to build with me. She built some trees and added some flowers and mushrooms. I'm so proud of her. She's gonna be quite the moccer one day. Heck, she's only a couple steps behind me as it is!

Fourth wall commentary: Well, this whole post was really fourth wall so I'll just say thanks for checking it out! Alright, time to get the house ready for hardwood flooring... wish me luck!
Till next time true believers!
~Chris.

A very fine set of ideas, and lovely ship. I feel your pain regarding working on the house (and lwan, garden, forest, driveway, blah). But hardwood flooring? WooHoo! Stylin. |

Hey Chris, are you coming to the Pittsburgh Brickworld?
Nope, sorry. It's hard enough to get the time off work to attend the one that's 15 minutes from my house. |

Ha clever with the name. Well, I like the hallway, I think that deserved some epic photography and lighting. And that portal idea looks promising. Hmmmm.... Anyways, I sent a request to be in your Avatar Project group. I dont really know what to expect, don't really know if you'll even accept the invitation, but I have almost 20 Avatar mocs (so yes, basically everything from the movie.) And thought id like to join. Thanks! |

I had exactly the same thought with a hallway build, lighting experiment, greebling etc. In the end it got wrapped into my superhero build as part of a base, so nothing goes to waste! Loving the design of that pirate ship Chris, and the idea for that portal is clever - like to see you come back to that one time. |

The alligator looks like he's asking the mermaid: "You happen to know where I can find Hook? Had some nice finger food and now I'm back for seconds". The hallway is impressive. You should really use it in the future. And your daughter is a couple of steps BEHIND you? - Hahahaha |

That portal idea needs to be brought to fruition! That's the good thing about MOCs. You can stash them away for years at a time, and come right back to them and start building again like it was yesterday. I have had to do this many times. But a really good idea will always wait, no matter how long it takes. Good luck with the floor. Attack! |

nice! love the ship and the portal ideas is quite brilliant! say, where did you get all those dark trans green bricks? also, can I expect you to be at brick fiesta? I will be there and it would be a honor to meet you in person.
No, I won't be there, sorry. I WILL be at Brickworld though. It's in Chicago in June. If you can make it it would be great to meet you. (Also, the reason I'm not posting a lot of stuff or able to finish a lot of these is because my Brickworld builds are taking up a lot of my brick) |
