Shade
About this creation

Name: Shade, Krahokah
Prevailing Element: Shadow
MOC Status: Disassembled

(Bed of Nails - Two Steps From Hell)

Shades are a form of golem, kept animate not by technology, spirits or living tissues but pure elemental energy. Like other elemental golems, Shades are found most commonly in service to Elemental Lords and archons, but some makuta and even some powerful shadow toa are able to create and control them.

They take the spindly form of a shadow, generally a toa's shadow, made solid. Depending on the time of day they change in size, being tallest near dusk and dawn and tiny at midday. At night, a shade is near unstoppable, able to take up a massive space in the dark and evade most means of detection.

Reflex governs their density. Their bodies can solidify to being almost as hard and sharp as cut protosteel, or as intangible as shadow. Powerful shades can even pass through dense matter. All of them can pass through something transparent.

On Korrothis, shades are common, performing duties in the Tower of Shadows and indeed across the whole island for the shadowlord Nivorn. Later, on Spherus Magna, created shades are weaker, and demand more power from their creator, as they are no longer fuelled by power from the active Matoran Universe.

This guy was actually made to be a sort of null, mainly to hold weapons for display on CBW. Still haven't gotten around to that. He uses Cameron G's joint design, as do many of my MOCs, and also a flipped rahkshi head with a stud in it, which Shadowgear6335 uses a lot. With the Shade, I created joints which don't rely on balljoints. In fact, the only balljoint used is an old Mata joint, in its neck. And it's still really posable :)
Unlike a lot of MOCers, I am steadily working on techniques that reduce the number of balljoints I use in my MOCs.

not the Rakala, the Shade. my guys are, to say the least, conduits for shadow energy. the Shade would have a limitless battery if it came near one

Quoting Gideon Fucci Looks very good. May have to try this sometime soon. Don't let a Rakala/Shadow Monger near these guys. they would gain near unlimited power...
Unlikely. If a Rakala absorbed the shade's energy, it would be quickly absorbed completely. They're not that unlimited in power.

What's that thing doing with my staff?!? XD Awesome job, nice how this guy only has 1 ball connector! Might have been cool if you had made two, but I'm guessing you would have if those weren't parts expensive. Keep up the good work! :D

Remind me to get a DA account one day..... This MOC also proves that you are the world's best toa-size MOC-making MOCer with a lack of ball joints.

Interesting concept, and a very good design. The third picture reminds me of Metroid.
