The TIE/ad was the descendent of the TIE Advanced series but to avoid confusion, they were called TIE Avengers. They had a few similarities but were a much more advanced and deadly fighter. At It's time, there were no other fighters in the galaxy that could
out-maneuver these, so the Rebel pilots called them "Brights." This particular starcraft features four Sienar Fleet Systems L-s9.3 laser cannons and two standard laser cannons on the "chin" of the craft. Also another standard feature is four SFS M-g-2 general purpose warhead launchers that could fire up to four concussion missiles each, or proton torpedoes, heavy rockets, or space bombs. This fighter also includes a smaller and more powerful Hyperdrive than that of the TIE Advanced and also featured Deflector shields and a tractor beam.

As much as I enjoyed your alien mooning technique, this is where the 58 smilies (and more) should be! Unfortunately, as Jay pointed out, the site is so inundated with mediocre (at best) SW MOCs, gems like this don't get the attention they deserve. The shaping is top-notch.~H |

Ah, this MOC brings me back good memories of Star Wars: TIE Fighter. The TIE Avenger was my favorite ship to fly in that game. Anyway, the overall design is very detailed and cleverly built. I like the wing design and the classic TIE cockpit. Even the angles and slopes were accurate. |

AWESOMENESS! Why have I never commented on this? I love the wing parts you used around the front of the cockpit, as well as the shaping of the cockpit and pylons. If this were a real set, I'd definately buy it!
Thanks Moodswim! The pylons were definately the hardest part to build on this MOC. I think I spent probably 2/3 of time of the build on these. Not so much the shaping, but the structure itself and its ability to hold up the weight of the wings. I went through approximately 4 versions before I got it right. Total build time I'd say was about 6-8 hours. I am very happy so many fellow MOC'ers are enjoying this! Thank you. |

I think I found someone else who's a big fan of a certain mid 90's game! Great rendition, but the front section, looks, wide. Still, great shape to this.
Believe it or not, these are a rather tough build based on the scale of the fighter and making all of the details accurate with LEGO. Hence why the front looks a little wide. I guess I could have done it another way but this seems to work for now. Over all, the build came out better than I expected in some ways, yet lacked certain things I wanted in the shape based on piece shape and lacking certain pieces. If I were judging this to my standars, I would give it a 7/10. Thank you for your constructive criticism! I always appreciate that! |
