Here we are! The winner of the Christmas Toa contest - Irohs, self MOC of Hank Hansen, as a titan. This guy was a real pain to build, and the main reason posting these winners took so long. Two months of stubborn building - that is, in between exams and whatnot. He is probably my tallest MOC, and, keeping him this tall I also had to keep him vaguely proportional. I took a few pages out of Kai Heffernan's book while designing him.
Note that the red 'wing things' Hank always kept on Irohs have been replaced by a cloak-thing I made out of Axalara parts. I also separated out the red and yellow. I intensely dislike a red and keetorange colour scheme, and felt a bit of separation was needed.
The design isn't one of the best. Irohs' ankle articulation isn't great, and his shoulders have an annoying habit of dislocating if I handle him too much.
Like the other winners, Irohs has been integrated into my Spherus Magna storyline!
Name: Irohs Gender: Male Species: Matoran (G2) Race: Onu-Av-Matoran Occupation: Knight Title(s): Toa Mask: Great Garai, Mask of Gravity Prevailing Element: Earth Alignment: Neutral Good Typical Weapon(s): Rocks, fists, firearms. MOC Status: Converted to Minifig size Era: Soulplague -> Fall of the KoSM
(Iron Man Instrumental (From Movie Score, not Black Sabbath))
Irohs was born to an Av-matoran mother and Onu-matoran father on Spherus Magna not long after Mata-Nui granted the matoran race the ability to breed using Kaitagenesis (2 combine in a kaita, three come out). His Av-side accounts for his unorthodox colourisation.
Irohs became a toa before he was fully mature. Exploring the fringes of Bota-Magna with his friends (which none of them should have been doing), they stumbled upon a pool of energised protodermis, bubbling in a silvery pool among the trees. Irohs fell in.
Life as a toa brought him to the Brotherhood of Korrothis, his parents being devout weavics. He was tutored in his powers by none other than Onua himself, with intergections occasionally from an Av-matoran called Kirop. He learned to manipulate earth, use his mask of gravity and a few scant powers of light, as well.
Eventually, Korrothis was ready to fly. Irohs, feeling that he belonged on Spherus Magna, stayed behind. He became a member of the KoSM, and, eventually, one of their tutors. He became close friends with Galinhad, who introduced him to the powerful crystals he himself had used to become a titan back in the Matoran Universe. When the soulplague struck, Galinhad, sensing his death coming, gave them to Irohs.
Later still (~50 years) the War of the Weave began. Irohs stayed loyal to the Knights, and his students, throughout the conflict. He survived the entire war, and was one of many KoSM members exiled by the Druids when they took over. He ended up on the island of Vihun, which was primarily inhabited by Steltians.
Two Kanohi Olmaks! Great use of those on the shoulders, and the frontal armor and the lower legs are especially cool. I think the legs are a bit too long proportion-wise, but otherwise, another great Bionicle!
one word: Awesome! this is just awesome the ankle and arm problems are the same with my Irohs I plan on overhauling him soon. I love what you did with the wing thingys and I still don't know what they do. btw what did you do with the preacher?great job!
Quoting Kai Heffernan
Another great MOC! But what did you mean by 'I took a few pages out of Kai Heffernan's book while designing him.'? Looks like you've used all your own designs to me :/ Anyways, once again, great MOC!
Yes but I tried to make him look like a few of yours, proportion/aesthetics-wise.
Wow! This was worth the wait. I really like your use of the hero factory 2.0 chest plate in the cape. Irohs' shins are awesome and the way you separated the colors is great too. It's cool how you incorporated the selfMOCs you built into your story.
DUUUUUDE!!! I don't even care that I lost, THIS IS EPIC!!! (Not saying I wouldn't mind to see Aridike like this...Hmm...). The color scheme is awesome, and the back design is really cool! I love how it seems like a cape. :D Great job! You should have another contest soon!
