Eagle of the Ninth
"The Eagle of the Ninth" (by Rosemary Sutcliff) is one of my favorite books (if you have not read it yet, I highly recommend it). The book is set in the time period of Rome and focuses on young Roman soldier named Marcus and his friend/slave, Esca (a native Briton + my favorite character). These two set out on a dangerous mission to find the lost Eagle of Marcus's father's legion, the Ninth Legion, which mysteriously disappeared somewhere in the wilderness of Briton. This particular build shows Marcus and Esca traveling through the wild and passing by the old ruin of a Roman outpost. Enjoy!

Great scene Ian! I like the look of the characters and the whole scene is well balanced. I really like the torch bearer. And the publisher likes it too, what a result :-)

I don't know why I didn't comment on this sooner. This is great! I love when people take a not-too-popular book and make a great MOC.

Very nice job! The book was fabulous, and your Lego rendition is equally superb! I really like both the minifigs and they work perfectly in your compact little scene. What set does the gold parrot come in? I've never seen that before. It really ties up the vignette nicely. Nice job and I'd love to see more from the book!

Excellent portrayal! Roesmary Sutcliff may very well be my all time favorite author. EOTN was one of the first books I read by her, and thats pretty much how I pictured Marcus and Esca. You should do scenes from some of her other books.

Cool, Ian! I like the landscape and the one (not bare-chested) minifigure. The path is cool. My only objection would be to the buff persian guy in the middle of Britain. :) Otherwise great!

Cool! Love the gruff landscape! I Don't like your Marcus minifig though. Esca is fine, but I imagine him lighter. Oh, why is a parrot in England? It's very weird. HE HE HE!!!!
