Welcome all! Thanks for looking at my humble contribution to this community. It's been awhile, I know, but I am back and rarin' to go! I would like to say thanks to Dr. Happybaboon for helping me get this series going; I'm really proud of the story. Please feel free to join the group!
About this creation
Here's a quote from my story that will describe this MOC better than I can. Oh, wait, I wrote it in the first place! :)
"He entered the hangar just as the second perimeter watch returned from their run. Four meter tall bipedal machines that were little more than legs and guns, the walkers could go up to seventy miles per hour at a full sprint. The pilot sat in a cage-like harness, something that looked remarkably similar to the restraints commonly found on roller coaster rides. A translucent HUD display mounted on the harness provided communications, targeting information, as well as infrared scanners and other apparatus. The walker was armed with two mass driver machine guns positioned on either side of the sparse cockpit, and these had remarkable lines of sight.
The same material that powered the vehicle supplied ammunition, interestingly enough. Wilterís chemists had developed a new element that was to all intents and purposes a metal. When it reached its melting point, however, it released a gas that made an excellent substitute for steam. In fact, it took two times as much water to operate a machine than it did using the new element, which had been named Apoxium. The left over molten metal, which was more of a by-product than the Apoxium, was piped to the mass driver cannons and magnetically accelerated at a target. On the other hand, due to Apoxiumís high density the walkers could carry only a small amount, which limited their scouting range considerably.
A beautiful machine, at any rate, Wilter thought. These new Dune Patrollers were the backbone of his anti-zombie workforce, engaging in full-fledged defenses as well as scouting missions."
The yellow computer panel on the front feeds the pilot live targeting information as well as maps, communications, and other things.
Those two guns on the side are the mass driver cannons.
