Mini Fig U-Boat with Drydock
About this creation
Winner of Best Sea Craft at Brickworld - Chicago 2011 www.brickworld.us

Mentioned and photographed in the newest edition of Railbricks Issue # 10! www.railbricks.com

The diorama has 3 arch welders (one on the u-boat, one in the mechanic shop, and one inside the floodgate). All of the lights are powered by www.lifelights.com

The crane is lifting mines (it's the best I could do out of Lego) that were just delivered as my little Lego dock workers are working hard to put them into storage until a mine layer arrives.

Check back soon for more new pictures and a video!

Quoting K. Asch Hey, Great model best i've seen. I had a question though, on one of the photos you have your black support beams on the side of the dock. And there is a reflection of a cruise ship or battleship possibly wondering if I could have some feed back? Thanks
Hmmm. I don't see the reflection; let me know which picture (count down from the top) and I'll see if I can figure out what it is. It may be another u-boat I'm working on...

Quoting Anders T Thanks, and stupid me also didnīt notice the two WIP postings. Itīs pure magic to see how the hull progesses. Your way to tackle the issue of a wellshaped hull is very elegant. to me it seems like molding and shaping by "feel". Is that the case or is there some other secret to it?
You pretty much nailed it. Trial and error. I don't have any pictures of my failed hull attempts using bricks, bricks and plates, bricks and hinges. I was looking through one of my u-boat books which showed one under construction and I thought it looked like technic angle connectors and bricks. Then it was just finding the right combination to get the most accurate look.

Quoting Anders T This has to be the most accurate U-boat in site. The hull the design details and the overall scene is magnificent. Itīs very clear why it has recieved awards. IMHO This posting would benefit a great deal if would upload some closeups. I can see there is a lot of details, but I canīt really make them out.
I'm planning on doing a video of it here soon. In the meantime check out my flickr account as it will hopefully have what you are looking for as far as close ups: http://www.flickr.com/photos/51492892@N02/

Quoting Brad Linnerooth When I first saw this I couldn't believe my I eyes. This is deffinately the best U-Boat Type VIIC I have ever seen. Too bad I don't have the money to make something like this because of the restoration of my 1976 Chevrolet Scottsdale takes up a lot of time and also makes me unable to afford that many parts. I could also never be able to design something that awesome. So great work.
Thank you very much! I just uploaded new pictures on this page!

Quoting Andrew Rose That is impressive. Does the sub have an interior? If so, I NEED to see it. Then you get your 5/5.
Yes it has a full interior. My Flickr has the most pics of the interior; you'll find them there. http://www.flickr.com/photos/51492892@N02/
