About this creation
Another delve into the world of microscale naval craft, but to a different scale this time. Did the design work in LDD, pretty happy with the outcome.

The Gettysburg class of ships started development in the early 1990's to supplement and eventually replace the aging Enterprise class ships that formed the core of the US Navy during the last half of the Cold War. The ships were designed with ergonomics in mind, allowing 90% more aviation fuel, and 60% more ammunition to be stored on board, despite the outward physical similarity between the new design and the Enterprise class. The power plant of the vessel also saw an increase compared to older cousins, thanks to the new Westinghouse A6W naval reactors, capable of outproducing any other naval power plant on the planet. Congress approved the purchase and commissioning of a total of ten vessels in February of 1997, with the Gettysburg and her sister ship Antietam starting construction at Newport News later that year, slated for commissioning in 2003.
Stats:
Displacement: 105,800 tons
Length: 340 meters (1115.5 feet)
Beam: 77 meters (253 feet)
Propulsion: 2x Westinghouse A6W reactors, generating 270,000+ hp
Top Speed: 44 knots (82kph)
Range: essentially unlimited distance; 20 years
Armament: 18x RIM-162 Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile launchers, 4x CIWS, 4x rolling airframe missile launchers
Aircraft carried: 85 - 90 fixed wing and helicopters
