OK, this Tower might be a little educational, so deal with it!
This mythbusters episode is from Season 1, episode 2, and one of my favorites.
On this episode of Mythbusters, can someone really explode a gas station by using their cellphones?
Remember: Don't try this at home!! This was made purely for entertainment and not for self use.
(No minifigs were harmed in the making of this moc.)
It's that time again. In the trophy room, Adam and Jamie get an email (or mail) for another myth for them to do.
In the past, a cellphone is said to be the cause of petrol pump fire.
But that's what they say.
The myth states that when your using your cellphone at the pump, the phone could ignite a spark near the gasoline, causing the station to catch on fire.
So it's up to Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman to test whether or not this could actually happen.
First they make a small scale to replicate the scene.
Next have a small glass box with an ignition source inside to activate the spark.
Third they pour gasoline into the container. Then by blending the fuel and air, Adam and Jamie set off the spark resulting in a small explosion.
Oh noes! Adam got too close! "Am I missing an eyebrow?"
But when they tried using the cellphone with the same compounds by calling the phone, nothing happened.

The myth might seem far fetched, but in real life this can actually happen, but NOT from using cellphones.
When you get out of the car you discharge static electricity.
But when someone gets out and doesn't touch anything (the door, the car, etc), and they touch a piece of metal (like the gas handle)
the vapors coming out of the tank blends with the air therefore creating the spark.
The spark then ignites the gas coming out from the nozzle, creating a stream of fire.

Last Adam and Jamie take this myth outside where they create a larger box to contain the mixed compounds with the phone.
So they try calling the phone. But again nothing happens, no explosions, nada.
But they are the Mythbusters, they must have an explosion! Always go full scale right?
By triggering the gas and air with the self-made static, a huge firery explosion erupts pulling the container apart!
So what does this mean for the myth? Take a guess.
