TIE/X Marauder

Following the destruction of the 2nd Death Star and the deaths of the Emperor and Darth Vader the scattered Imperial forces formed rogue fleets dedicated to rebuilding the crumbling Empire. Short on parts some unusual adaptations arose. The Tie/X was the unlikely prodigy of the Tie advance and the X-wing. With the New Republic turning it's attention to the new E-wing line several depots of X-wings were raided by the remnant Imperials. The resulting Franken-ship created a monster that was greater than the sum of its parts.
About this creation

The X-wings procured in the raids provided several upgrades that improved survivability for the dwindling pilot population. Shields, quad laser cannons and Incom 4L4 engines. Additionally Ion cannons were made standard issue and some Marauders even featured tractor beam systems. A big change was made, largely due to space restrictions but which provided a distinct tactical advantage, the shields were deployed on the right and left nacelles. The shields could be balanced right to left, instead of front to back. This made it extremely hard to penetrate them as pilots could rarely focus shots tight enough to deplete either shield fully without attacking from the side, which was a task in and of itself.

The L4L engines were modified with ion plasma afterburners allowing for thrust rivaling older A-wings without the instability and delicate construction known to have ended many a rebel pilots career. The rear mounted coolant system was the ships main weakness, having to channel so much energy around the ship required nearly twice the cooling of the original X-wings the parts were liberated from, despite the ships mass being near halved. If a shot could penetrate the shields, even a glancing blow to the radiator couplings would cripple the ship.

Despite the rarity of the Marauder, it became infamous in the Outer Rim for the vicious nature of their attacks. A single squadron of Marauders was often all it took to capture an entire space station without capital ship support. Even patrol and assault craft succumbed easily to the massive firepower of the unholy hybrid. In the rare squadron's lucky enough to have tractor beam assemblies, even the famed E-wing's of the New Republic could be swiftly dispatched with minimal losses. With an excess of Tie and X-wing parts spread throughout the galaxy, the plans often leaked to bounty hunting clans and was a favorite of Mandalorian defense patrols.

Quoting Tim C Nice Tie. It has the look of an Interceptor, but I like the variances you have added to it. (Nerd Alert!!) Lucky for the Rebellion that the Empire didn't have these things during the Battle of Endor, eh? Anyway, looks like you harvested some pieces from Slave I. Am I right? Wherever they came from, this is a sweet build.
Thanks, I did cobble it from Slave 1, Grievous' fighter and some random Lego shop bits. This is probably my favorite build and I want to revisit it in an improved form.

This is a very cool design! I really want to make a TIE of my own and a cool story to go with it! Great job! It looks like it would be deadly and really fast and agile.
