Now onto the entry, bear in mind that this is to do with the Halo theme, so for those of you thinking "not this stuff again" sorry.

The year is 2535, the Human-Covenant War (often called the Great War) has been raging through UNSC (United Nations Space Command) space for ten years. The alien alliance known as the Covenant has hunted down human colonies, their only intent was to exterminate the filth from the Universe (why are no aliens friendly?). Their exploits have taken them to the lowly populated Planet known to Humanity as Jericho VII. The battle has been going for days and the Covenant have started to glass the planet, in order to eliminate all humans. Harvest, Madrigal, Hat Yai, and Eridanus II have already fallen to this form of extermination.

But this battle has something most don’t a watcher, who may survive and live to tell of what has happened. That watcher is a Spartan II, designated S-058, or simply Linda.

Here we see her, watching the battle.

The battle is taking place over the Valley City of Charkis. The UNSC Frigate Staten has engaged an Atmospheric Bombardment vessel.

From where Linda is you can see the cities only Spaceport, the facility is past full capacity as civilians are being evacuated into transport shuttle. If they even break atmosphere or survive longer, they will dock in a UNSC Warship.

But the Port is the most dangerous place to be in, due to the enclosing Covenant ship.

The energy beam that is used to glass the surface is so powerful it can cut through a mountain with ease.

The invaders are intelligent; instead of going on a path that will hit the port terminal directly, they choose to hit the runways and shuttles. Without either, no one is leaving the city.

The transport on the left is packed with civilians and is taking off. While the one on the right is still loading, it will leave, no matter how many are onboard, if the beam hits the first runway.

The only protection this city has is the Frigate, commanded by Captain Leonard Joseph. Unfortunately it is no match for the Covenant’s advanced Plasma Torpedos. The ship is listing to port, while the bridge crew is struggling to crash somewhere other than downtown.

This transport is unlike the others, it is a cargo transport. The pilot ejected all cargo in the hopes that he could evacuate civilians. He was denied access to any landing, so he choose to fly into the enemy ship. He is willing to give his life to slow it down, even a little bit.

The city does not have any aliens fighting in the streets, instead the Covenant Shipmaster decided to not waste their warriors’ lives, and started glassing minutes ago.

This has not been its first glassing on the planet, the bottom of the hull is covered in dust, creating the illusion that it is grey, and not blue.

That action in Charkis is about to turn worse, as there are no friendly forces coming to aid the city.

Linda ponders the likely hood of survival if she advanced further. She gives a depressed sigh and decides to go by the Spartan motto “Live to fight another day.”

History of Charkis, with bonus pictures.

Charkis was declared a city June 3rd 2498, and grew slowly. Natural boundaries-mountains to the North and South, with an ocean to the east, and rocky plains to the west-prevented large growth.

The Space Port was the last addition to the city, taking advantage of the low obstacles in the plains. Travelers use the port to either travel to other parts of the planet, or to a waiting cruise ship in orbit.

This mountain is a common attraction for climbers, and is the cities most profitable attraction. Rough cliffs face the city, with slightly gentler slopes on either side.

Even in after 2500 boats are still being used, mainly for industry. No Maglev lines have even been attempted, the landscape is too problematic. Cars still drive on four wheels, this isn’t the year 3000.

The ONI’s (Office of Naval Intelligence) Athenian tower is, by law, the tallest tower in Charkis. Outside of the tower (left in the picture) is a war memorial commemorating those who have fallen in the current genocide.

This nuclear reactor powers the entire city and surrounding countryside. The reactor only runs at 2% capacity, so a meltdown is quiet impossible.

Throughout the city you can see a few buildings with similar designs. This is because of a city planner who prefers that style. The building to the left has been damaged by a stray plasma bolt.

A few more towers of that same design. Some have slight differences.

Some more buildings.

Other than boat, or shuttle, this highway is the only way out of the city. Especially if you own a car.

A few trees and bushes dot the landscape at the foot of the mountains.

Charkis does have single family homes, but they are the minority.

We hope you have enjoyed you stay at Charkis.

More bonus pictures.

Transport Ships. The one in the center has larger engines that are needed for moving cargo.

The UNSC Frigate Staten, with major structural damage. The is NOT the type of Frigate you see in the games, granted it is similar, but it follows my own design.

The Covenant vessel Holy Fire.

The hilltop where Linda was standing, wait she is still there.

This took a long time to build, and I am proud of the end results. This MOC may seem long, but I wanted to put as much effort in it as I did with the entry.
Now I’m going to lie down now. >Eric

This TOTALLY should have won the 2011 Mocie microscale category! It is better than Arcturus. Hey while I am commenting, I have a question. I co-own a group called EBA for only the most elite builders. One of your fellow nominees, Paul Wellington, joined. Thanks, please join.

I'm glad I took time to read the story, it was fantastic! Everything about this creation is just flawless. From the bushes to the mountains, it all looked so real! I think my favourite bit was the highway, although all of it was brilliant. Amazing work, love it!:)

Quoting JC REX Cool! I like the design of those transports... Your 'Leaving the Eridanus System' MOC is not opening on my phone, I am wanting to stay in the group 'The Insurrection' but I can not add a comment Just a question: Which is your favourite Halo game?
I'm stuck between Halo 2, Reach and ODST. Reach was epic but there were a few things in the story that went against the books. ODST had urban combat, ODSTs, and really nice music. Halo 2 had great music too, some great fighting, but those 'boss battles' were kinda cheesy. To me Halo 3 was blegh, and CE didn't have another Human Stuff for my taste. I don't count Wars.

Quoting Nfar 'Qualom WOW! This is great! I really like the designs on all of your ships and the city has inspired me to create my own similar scene. With your permission I would like to use the design of your frigate and civilian transports as a base to my own designs; you will be credited for it. Also, what planet is Charkis on? Can I have a UNSC base not too far off, in scale with your city? They are occupied trying to defend themselves from the Covenant Corvette attacking them and also attempting to send reinforcements to Charkis. If This is possible, please reply!
Go ahead and use the designs. And as I said in the MOC itself, this is on the colony world Jericho VII.

Quoting Kevin J. Walter (But your CCS-class cruiser is a bit too small compared to the UNSC frigate :-P)
Seeing how it's not that ship, and in fact a mining vessel it's about right. It was modeled after it though =P

I really can't say enough about how good the micro city and landscape are here. I really liked that snow caped mountain as well. Really just a fine piece of moccing all round. Now, that being said, for this category we're judging just the F.P. of the build. You did a really nice job on that as well so, 4 points. ~ Chris.

Quoting Shawn Purkis Not sure Linda should have had Mark VI armor by then, but could be testing a prototype. Great job over all.
She wouldn't have it, but I haven't got any Mark IV armor pieces (does anyone?). Plus, that's the only green armor I have.

Hey, guy below me, the reason that everything is miniscale besides Linda is because it's forced perspective. She's a minifig because your supposed to be looking from behind her.

Quoting Night Hawk _ Wow this is really good. Also some constructive criticism the frigate looks a bit large compared to the size of the Covenant cruiser but other than that great job and great detail.
The Covenant ship is one of their smaller ones. It isn't even a warship persay, but more of a mining ship that the hierarchy took and used for glassing.

Quoting Crazy Awesome I think what could have made this creation better would be more aircraft, whether military or transport, just to give it the feel of a battle. Great job!
Actually that would have really clogged up the airspace, I ran out of clear trans pieces, and this battle wasn't a high priority for the UNSC so a small force isn't that surprising.
