Day Seven: Harpy
This week: 7 variations on the Kleinpanzer frame. Number seven is a flying suit of powered combat armour.
About this creation
I'm not totally sure flying exoskeletons are practical combat machines, but eh, they look good.

First two pics are with the flight pack and wings extended:

Next one is how it'd look with the wings folded for smashing into someone feet first:

Now, the interesting thing about Harpies is that they can't walk very well, what with the giant talons on the feet and the massive flight pack conspiring to tip them over backwards.

They're much more graceful without the pack, though, although watching them try to run on the ground is quite amusing.

One arm fits a rapid fire laser; which one exactly is up to the pilots, as are a lot of other features. Regulations don't really apply, given the amount of skill needed to fly such a suit without becoming a lawn dart, never mind trying to pull evasive manuevers. Someone like that decides she wants to play fast and loose with the dress code, there's not much point getting annoyed.

You'll notice this particular suit is much more compact than the previous ones; the reason for that is a matter of tasks. Compare this with the Battledress from a couple days ago: you'll notice they can both fly, but the one intended for proper flight, as opposed to sustained hops, is much more streamlined.

The lower legs also act as shock absorbers, but I didn't take a pic of that.

It'd have been up earlier, but my connection was playing silly beggars.

I think I might extend this to a fortnight. We'll see.

Quoting Areetsa C Most usable picture on Google Image Search's first page. I = much too lazy to spend 15 minutes scrolling down on the off chance someone else used the same picture
Yeah. That's why I used it too. Y'know I'm just frakking with you, right?

Quoting cyberfrank 2010 interesting design, some great concepts, like the binocular-claws combo, and the backpack! i ll definitively build one, and it will fly, but i ll have to do more than one, andthey have to be green, for the federation. have you seen my tac-tech office areetsa?
Not yet, although I recall thinking the backlit red TT was a nice touch, from the thumbnail. Been a bit busy lately, I'm sure you know how it is.

Quoting Spaztastic the Diabolical It's cool, but that background image is the same that I used, as well. On a pic of flying hardsuits, no less. http://www.flickr.com/photos/49103771@N05/4686836257/ :P

Quoting Decimator the NukeMaster Nicely done, but how do woman even have a hope of becoming lighter than men? I like the feet, nevertheless.
Smaller average body size.
Quoting ThunderT0D :) Is it a bird, a plane, NO it's a Harpy!!! The claw feet are a nice touch anyway! So, this is the last one? All well, they were all the coolest hardsuits I've seen!
Well, it would have been, if I hadn't decided to extend it to a fortnight.
