Ian was peacefully doing his Yoga routine when he heard the screen door from his neighbor's burst open and the horridly familiar voice began singing her "theme song".
That idiot girl and her sad looking stuffed animal were "exploring" their backyard again. Ian would have said that the poor ragged monkey in galoshes hated his incipient mistress almost as much as Ian himself, if he hadn't wanted to join the girl in anthropomorphizing a monkey full of cotton.
Summoning his inner will, Ian tried to continue, but the chanting of "Say, 'Map'! Say 'Map'!" was too much. He sat up and looked over the fence. There she was playing next to that eyesore barbeque that her father had built. Ian seethed.
"Hi, Mr. Ian! Boots and I are saving Mr. Toucan from the bad witch! Do you want to play?"
"Maybe tomorrow Dora, I'm going to go lie down..."
"Don't worry Mr. Toucan, Boots and I are coming! Gate! Bridge! Tallest Tree! Gate! Bridge! Tallest Tree!"
"Do you see the Gate?"
I started with the idea of the barbeque and went from there. I knew that I had to incorporate Dora as well.
Front view of the barbeque. Notice the fire burning. Used an open space beneath the BBQ and a flashlight to light it from behind. It turned out pretty well.
Another view of the BBQ to show the mix of Duplo and regular sized elements.
A wide shot of Dora's backyard. The giant red "flower" IS a LEGO brick. It comes from the Shape Sorter House. I wanted to incorporate it as well to give more texture to the Duplo backyard.
A shot of the whole build including the false front of Ian's house. Originally, I had included a pine tree and another Shape Sorter flower, but changed it for better photographs. Thanks for viewing. Best of luck to everyone in the competition!
