GGWU themed starfighter.
About this creation

(Because of MOCPAGES server crash pictures do not line up with commentary. I condensed the commentary and moved it to the bottom...so it con not make sense all in the same spot.
NEOS RAPIER
DEVELOP DATE: 3023
DEVELOPER: HYPERION UNION
A versatile Multi-Role starfighter of the New Empire of Skaboor (NEOS). Though initially used for recon missions, the Rapier found a niche for pilots who prefered speed over firepower. Also notable was its relatively long service record, being fielded for close to 20 years before being retired. (Enjoy the pics!)

Ahhh, as you can see the cockpit is VERY cozy...so cozy in fact that I contemplated coining a new term and calling it a wombpit...Ahem, now where were we.
The wombp...Cockpit, really isn't too much cozier without the protective lining...Just a few knobs...
The most important instrument in the cockpit. A quick note on the pilot from the personnel files. Henry Staidler, callsign "Pillowtalk" due to his flirtatious often inappropriate banter over comms. Worse yet, he likes his drink like he likes his women, cheap and numorous, contributing to his problems with authority. He has a habit of disobeying direct orders, starting brawls in the mess hall, and in one case striking his commanding officer. He was promoted to Rapier pilot, where the average lifetime of a pilot is 1 week and 1 day (1 week of training, 1 day on the field). His skill as a pilot is unquestionable and he has disappointed the brass for one reason, he's lived.
Ok, I'm showing this shot because this does sport a light brick. This is the switch, those 2x2 round plates(not sure the name) offer friction show the "switch" can stay on while you fly around the room.
Though, while messing with the function of my camera, I did get this neat effect that looks like one of the fuel tanks ruptured and exploded!
For size comparison, just because I was really surprised it was this big, I couldn't tell when I was building it!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, some comments...First MOC with landing gear and I have newfound respect for people who put landing gear on all their ships, AND make them all look different, AND make them all functional...as for me? My primative landing gear took about 2 days of brainstorming, Lol!
Also, special thanks to Matt the Backward One for his observation on my last MOC. Because of this I spent a lot of time thinking about simplicity, and for the most part I think it's an improvement. The gun and the "star" looking shape near the front landing gear being the exceptions and reasonably complicated. (I do have concept pics showing the original back-end, you really might laugh...I'm too tired to upload them now though, perhaps later) So in general we have a mostly sleek looking craft, but I also tried to incorporate the simplicity into my photos and photo-editing, less more quality photos, simple background.
Anyway, thanks again. Let me know what you think if you have anything to say, until next time.

This is one of my favorite fighters on mocpages. Color scheme is cool. And I like the wombpit. Especially this canopy. It's very hard to use, but you incorporated it well. |

Wow. This is sooo good! The whole design is really intriguing. I love the landing gear and the way you integrated it into the wings. I also really like the black and yellow thing. It stands out in a good way! |

nice use of angles. this reminds me of a dart from stargate atlantis
Good observation there, it's actually probably the biggest influence with this build. The concept looked like a dart even more so, I deviated a little bit from my original plan, but I'm glad it still came through. Thanks for commenting! |

I HAD to add you to my favorites, because I'm missing WAY too many of these fabulous builds! Amazing angles, shapes, and patterns on the wings. The...pit linings were great accents.
Thanks man, I won't let you down. |

Awesome ship! Looks like a pipmped up version of the Jedi Starfighter.
I know crazy! If I had stayed closer to my sketch, the angle in the front would have been more extreme, looking like a Wraith Dart with a HUGE engine on the backend. After finishing, it looks like a Jedi Starfighter/Colonial Viper Hybrid to me.

Now the only thing that makes it less than perfect is that it needs another gun up in the front. Perhaps you could offer a heavy fighter version of this particular craft and add a gun or two on the left side of your ship?
Good observations, I went with the one gun to try and throw in a bit of asymmetry into the mix. I think that particular gun is just a little to eye catching to work...there's been a few comments on it. If I do revisit this MOC I'll be sure to fix the gun. Thanks for the advice!

Personally, I love your fighter, Ced. Now the only thing that makes it less than perfect (though I do dig your landing gear and the overall shape of your vessel) is that it needs another gun up in the front. Perhaps you could offer a heavy fighter version of this particular craft and add a gun or two on the left side of your ship? Also, congratulations on getting noticed at Brick Pop. |

How come I missed this? Anyway, this is truly EPIC Ced! Comparable in Awesomenss to your Tempest... I'd say my favorite part of this ship is the ingenious landing gear, closely followed by the elegant wing design, and that cool side gun. I don't care what people say about the side gun making it look lopsided, I love it! |

Thanks everyone, some very nice and supportive comments. And a lot on the landing gear of all things, thank you! For me they aren't my favorite for a couple reasons. I did actually think about them off and on over a 2 day period, though I wasted a lot of time, since I basically came back to my first thought, which was to use the robot arms, they are more flexible than a lot of other solutions. Another reason is that I originally wanted to put 4-6 appendages, but had to reduce it to the typical X-wing type 3. Its a bit of a failure for me. Though I do really appreciate the thoughts. As for the cheese wedges Shawn, I was starting to miss them for angular models like this, so I just ordered 50 of the 3 colors. A good investment I think, I always seem to not have enough. |

mmmmm this is so nice!! the only thing im not in love with is the fact that the pilot looks to be frozen in a cryogenic chamber. but everything else is great!
Haha, I agree, not helped by the fact that he has the snow goggles on, looks rather cold. The idea to use that type of cockpit, shoved into the technic wings, sealed by the rubber pieces was one of the first ideas I had. It does look cool, but doesn't offer too much space to work. Perhaps a different color though? I do have an orange one as well, I'll try it out to see how the colors go together. Thanks. |

That is a good fighter, but to me it seems a bit lopsided with the extra large gun on one side. I'd recommend using a smaller more streamlined gun on each side. Very nice, and a creative design for the wings! :)
Thank you sir, The gun was one of my least favorite achievements here. I'll keep your thoughts in mind for my future MOC's, this one will most likely not see a V2. |

Can I take it home? Please! I'll feed and wash and play ball with it! Jokes apart, this is one of the best fighters I've seem around since Ijoined MOC Pages. The angles are smooth, the shape is perfect, looks like an arrow. The underbelly details are freaking awesome and the turbines are great. Ced, I salute you! |

Now, THIS is what I'm talking about! You did a FINE job on the simplicity! I'm loving the overall shape and layout. Can't wait to see more from you! 5/5 Thanks! It works really well with this design, I can't promise they'll all be exactly this smooth (head hurts), but it was a really important comment and lesson I felt. Thanks again!
