2011 MOCathalon Forced Perspective Entry: The Empress is down.
Category five: Forced Perspective. Team Jigsaw. Built by: Lego Junkie.
About this creation
Some stories start with "once upon a time" Mine starts with a siren wailing.

August 19th, 2087.
BREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
The siren cuts into my sleep fogged brain like a hot knife through butter, "We have Orbalt raiders in sectors Fifteen, Twelve and Five. Please report to your weapons depot for further instruction It seems that a heavy class freighter named The Empress was attacked on route to the spice mining colony on Te'bom.
Loaded down with prisoners destined for mining, the Orbalt hoped to capture and use them for their raiding parties that harass the Empire whenever they can.
As we were the closest military outpost when the Empress was hit by the Shrike fighters, they turned to us. Now we have to deal with the Orbalt threat, the Empress appears to be slowly disintegrating as the battle wears on.
The panic on the ship must be intense, I'm glad I'm a lowly grunt and not one of the space-jumpers on board the outpost.

Due to the photo quality of MOCpages being lower than that of Flickr I've provided a link to the better quality photo, if the judges (and the masses for that matter) would follow that link and enjoy the better photos, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks for the decent scoring guys! (and ladies) I'm quite surprised I got that many points after failing so abysmally in the "Forced Perspective" aspect of it.

I like this really, but like the other judges said, I needed too much time for finding the forced perspective, but for many efforts in the details your: Score = 3

Lots of cool things going on - action, dripping goo (nifty idea), fire in space, etc. Unfortunately, the foreground took away the main point of the category. I see what's going on in the background, but it is just not popping out even as I stare at it for a while. Pretty cool build though. >> 2 points <<

Unlike my fellow judges, I picked up on the FP right away. Nice work here. Just remember, this is a MOCpages contest and we will NOT be going to any other site to check out photos. Nothing personal, just no time in a contest like this. Like Bones said, make them look good here. In any case, I liked it! 3 points! ~ Chris.

its to actiony for my tastes. an ariel view forcused on like a floor design or dead figure would have been more "topicy" in my opinion. id have liked more than ONE picture but i wont complain, love the helmets on the orange soldiers

Nice, nice. Although I think it'd be better if the ship in the background was moved to the right by a couple of centimetres. Also, those guys aren't wearing the proper equipment: if you're going to board an enemy warship, you want to make sure you're not going to suffocate if the owners decide to vent the atmosphere.

Honestly, the Flickr photos aren't that much better than what you've posted here. Interesting build, but I don't see the forced perspective here either.

I see what you are going for with the forced perspective of the ships through the crack, but a really good forced perspective image will instantly be interpreted by the eye. I had to study this photo for far too long before I realised that it was a ship flying outside the crack. I think your build is very nice though and has a lot of thought and effort behind it. Also I want to offer you some advice: if you must rely on the picture quality of flicker to show off your moc in its best light, then your moc isn't good enough. Think of the lesser pic quality of mocpages as a challenge to overcome when you build and photograph your moc. If you can make your pic look stunning on mocpages, then that moc is a sure fire winner. Hope that makes sense... 2.

I like the pipe dripping goo, I nice touch. The layout for the space battle could have been done a bit better though, with more of a head to head kind of battle taking place.

Awesome entry, and great writing in the story!

I like the build, but I am not seeing any forced perspective. I had to read the narrative just to figure out what I was supposed to be seeing. Still, decent build, your score = 2

Totally unnecessary image, Dude! As far as the forced perspective, I don't get it either. The scene looks awesome, though.

(Non-judge comment) You don't find my crack sexy? Wait, what are we talking about again? ... XD

Quoting Heath 'kik36' Flor I don't see where the forced perspective is....are those supposed to be spaceships in Shifu's crack? I like the build, but I think it's a weak entry for the category.
Well, let's hope that the judges are a bit less harsh then you. ;-)

Quoting Mister Bones 1. No link to the group page, 2. I will NOT be going to flickr to check pictures, make it good here. I will give you a bit to fix the post before I judge it since Chris gave folks a 24 hour pass on that, but the pass ends today.
My apologies on that one, fixed.
