We haven’t seen a big bulky mech in a while…
About this creation
The CATALYST is the newest war machine to hit the field. This tall mech is designed to direct Dawn Forge armies in the middle of battle.

The cockpit hosts a pilot and a higher ranked Dawn Forge officer. This officer has limited responsibilities for controlling the CATALYST, but controls the battlefield and issues orders from his high position.

The CATALYST has a fully articulated head, which rotates left, right, up, down, and forward…in time.
Just kidding, time travel is absurd.

Like most Dawn Forge mechs, there are lots of exposed hoses, not unlike Tom's hot tub parties.

Finally a shot of a MOC with every weapon system shown in one picture.
The CATALYST is equipped with two eight-barreled miniguns, 24 mortar tubes, and two OPX2 cannons. The OPX2 is a compressed version of the OPX1 prototype; it fires 220 mm rockets, which load vertically as shown.

A scale image with a Dawn Forge soldier.

And there she is; the single exoforce joint holding up the entire head. The only way this is even close to possible is to have the center of mass lie directly on top of that joint. Brick by brick I frustratingly sculpted this phenomenon.
Fourth wall!
So while I was taking pictures of this soon-to-be pile of scraps it collapsed so many times I was only focused on it standing up, and because of that some of the pictures show disconnected hoses, missing pieces, and other things that are slightly out of place. I am ashamed of myself, the lego community deserves a better attention to detail. I’m a noob.
That being said, I hope I didn’t disappoint :)

It bothers me that this mech didn't get as much attention as it should have. 60 smiles is good, but this thing is seriously dead on par with a Kescenovitz build, and that's saying something. The overall configuration is unique, and the coloring is amazing. I for one know that orange never photographs as well as it looks in real life, especially when paired with dark bley. And those yellow tubing accents on the back? Incredible! The miniguns are among the best I've ever seen, and I rather like the "stumpy" feet. A+
Thank you very much! Not to toot my own horn by i was kinda surprised myself that more people didn't look at this, but i'm still very happy with the outcome so that's all that really matters. I'm glad you enjoyed it, it means a lot getting detailed comments from builders like you. And the orange did look better in person..... haha |

How, how, HOW, do I miss stuff? Especially something like this!? Never again, you are going on my favorites. Dang, I hope this was as much fun to build as it looks to play with, its friggin' sweet! |

It's ture. A single exoforce joint can't hold such heavy body....you might need to find some other joint which can hold more weight.....Anyway, the mech you build is really good. The missle bay near the cockpit is my favorite. |

You have built quite a LEGO machine here despite your personal feelings of its so-called shortcomings. Personally I love your command mech. If it was too over gunned, the pilot might try to charge into battle when the mission is to coordinate other field units. Please keep 'em coming! |

Since BK has supposedly diminished and gone to the west, or whatever he did, I'm glad to see somebody keeping the Dawn Forge alive, with Brian's quality level intact. Great work. |

This is spectacular! how long did you spend (money and time) on it? Did you get the Gatling gun design from my Valkyrie?
Well I've had the pieces for a while, so I'm not sure on the cost, and It took about a week and a halt to finish, maybe 20 hours. As far as the miniguns, I've been using them since I starting building DF; I'm not sure if there is a single source to give credit to, I've seen them in several other places.

if you were there anyway, any reason you were too shy to jump in? Nice job with the center of mass. Getting some tutoring from your roomie?
Oh I was there, don't you remember? I dropped my keys into the hot tub; reaching my hand into those murky waters was the most terrifying experience of my life.
And in regards to the C.O.M., I've taken my share of engineering classes (against my will) |

Gorgeous. This should certainly catalize some imaginations around here. I also like the idea of a station for a higher level battlefield commander. BTW: you can actually travel forward in time. Just wait. You'll see. Hey now. I remind you that posting any pics or videos of my hot tub parties will cause Sean to delete your account. On the other hand, if you were there anyway, any reason you were too shy to jump in? (The weapons systems here are a bit under powered. I'm working on a Bellville/Scala themed mech with 230 mm rockets. They will be confident enough to feel secure in pink.) Nice job with the center of mass. Getting some tutoring from your roomie? I'll expect your next one to be spinning a large mass around it's torso and keep its balance. Don't sweat the rebuild pics. I sometimes only build half of something and only present one handed pics of it.

I like the head, espacially the back spike, wing, tip thingy :-)
Your mini/gatling guns are the best! How do you build them? (No, dont share this secret).
I only can criticise the feet. They look like too stumpy. Well, it isnt really criticism just my personal taste.
Brilliant work as always!!! |
