Assault Mech
The main photo is NOT mine. It is property of Karanak over at Deviantart. however, the build itself was based heavily off of it.
About this creation

Just so you all know, i am NOT happy with the legs. they went through several versions, but i just can't seem to make them well.

the small side gun on the cab is fully functional.it can rotate up/down, and left/right. unfortunately, ldd has some kind of collision problem with the up/down rotation. but it is built to be possible.

proof that it holds a pilot. there are warning lights as well as speakers inside. the holographic displays are projected from the inside of the door.

I wanted to make it a nice solid build. the coupling between cab and torso pieces at the bottom was quite challenging. it went through three or four different versions before the final (relatively simple) one pictured above.

Quoting Mike C This is a great Mech It should get a lot more attention on here. I guess thats one of the set backs of LDD people don't seem to be into it as much as real builds.
Yes, I too have noticed that. I bet if i were to translate it into real lego, then it would get a lot more attention.

This is a pretty great mech, the original art certainly seems to be lego influenced [just by some of the observable shapes], and you've captured it well in the build. @Dark Templar: I don't think its that they're too close together, its probably that they just sit a tiny bit higher than they do in the picture.

Quoting Dark Templar ; if the limbs were positioned closer in to the torso the problem would probably be solved (that or add some armor and/or detail to these sections).
originally, the limbs were placed closer to the torso, but it made the whole thing look disproportional to the picture. too tall and skinny looking. i spaced them out a little to make it look more robust, rather than the tall, skinny version.

Do you know if the original image was based on the Terran Goliath from Starcraft? It looks remarkably similar, especially with the gun on the torso positioned a bit to the side. (Starcraft 1 goliath: http://p-images.veoh.com/image.out?imageId=user-doomedfear2.jpg&version=4) (Starcraft 2 goliath: http://images.wikia.com/starcraft/images/d/d3/Goliath_SC2_Rend1.jpg) Between both of those almost all aspects of the image are covered... Anyway, this is a pretty good MOC, the legs are fine IMO. However, the long beams connecting the arms and legs to the torso seem kind of bland, blocky, and exposed; if the limbs were positioned closer in to the torso the problem would probably be solved (that or add some armor and/or detail to these sections).
