A Shortcut to Mushrooms
"The Hobbit" has been making headlines on the news at home lately, and thought I would make a little vig of some other famous hobbits in anticipation of the upcoming movie...
About this creation

Four little hobbits hiding under a tree.

Four little hobbits just as scared as they can be.

What is looking down at them?
Hiding under that tree...

Is it an evil being with a hood and a cape?

No, its just a dude in a gorilla suit looking for his banana...

Ok, I was honestly going to make this serious. But when I build I don't usually design the figs until after the moc is built. While I'm building I use stand-ins to help flesh out where the real figs are going to go. I just happened to grab for the closest fig to me to be stand in for the Ring-wraith, and it was gorilla. After completing this moc, I realised I actually did not own a black hood to make a wraith. So... the gorilla stayed in there.

From left to right, Merry, Sam, Frodo and Pippin.

Notes: Filming for "The Hobbit" is due to start next month after several delays, including labour disputes, a fire at a production facility and Sir Peter's recent surgery for a stomach ulcer. I'm really looking forward to it. How about you?

Quoting Mark Kelso That gorilla suit scares me more than any Wraith. I just keep flashing back to this horrible experience I once had with Phipson, a monkey suit, and a bananna. *curls up in a fetal position and begins to cry*
Oh no! you had that experience too?!

Nice! Both the MOC and the news about the movie. Let's just hope it will be a bit less demograph-oriented than "two towers" and Return of the King". Oh, I dropped by 'cause when I saw this MOC http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/261556 by Legolas 73 I thought you'd have liked it.

Haha, nice job! This really looks RIGHT out of the movies! I really wasn't expecting the Gorilla guy :) Say, Leda, I was wondering if perhaps you would check out my one and only MOC. It has a "movie" feel to it, and considering your undying passion for movies, I think you would like it! :) Again, great job on this, too!

Yep, tres excited about the Hobbit - Been watching Martin Freeman as Watson in the new TV version of Sherlock holmes and can't wait to see him as Bilbo. I read that Elijah Wood has signed on to narrate the whole thing as Frodo too? Loved the reveal here mate, sucked me right in and gave me a good chuckle!

Shouldn't it be called "A Shortcut to Bananas"? Never mind. All I can say is that I know I'm not in that suit. Now if it was some other kind of furry, then maybe! Any hoot, this is a beautiful build without a doubt. Comedy is always king or queen in your majestic hands!

This is one household that has been anticipating The Hobbit since they announced it, what, 2 years ago?! I, for one, loved the movies (extended versions only) and books of LOTR equally, unphased by the changes that Sir Jackson made. My wife watches them about once a month and I constantly find myself being drawn in; it just never gets old. Of course, the presence of a gorilla would have only made it better.~H

Quoting Nick Nitro Brick a lot of people have been taking advantage of the back of the gorilla head looking like a hood. love it
Yes, that was a lucky surprise I discovered after I had taken the photos and was looking at them on my computer screen.
Quoting Dennis Price Monkey man scare the wee little creatures! The landscaping is well done here, Leda!
Thanks Dennis, I am trying to practice landscaping and trees etc.
Quoting Tom Simon Cute. I can live with the gorilla, and all the banana jokes due, but I was expecting a brick built horse. And would it kill you to apply your lighting skills to making the flaming lettering on the ring come alive?
Hahaha, ok Tom, you're right, I can do better ;) Forgive me?
Quoting Deus _ Maybe he's looking for the one banana to rule them all?
Oh man! Why didn't I think of that line?! (kicks myself in the shin) Wait a minute... maybe, just maybe I could edit it now... and delete that comment... and this one... then nobody would know... then I'd have to hunt down and kill all the people who have already commented... but what about the people who have seen it but not commented? How do I know who they are? What do I do about them?! Huh?!!! What?!

OK, I held out for 15 minutes, but it's clear I can't hold off: when you do the scene in the third movie when she kills the head wraith, will it be Leda face, a chain saw, and his banana?

I'm a huge fan of Tolkien's works and I'm glad Jackson is soon back in his director's chair. I loved the 6 books/3 movies but I have some mixed feelings regarding "The Hobbit" for several reasons. But no mixed feelings regarding your vig. It's sweet and funny with the Ring-wraith monkeying around.
