As the air war raged over southern England during the summer of 1940, military planners realised the German invasion was imminent. The government authorised the constuction of defences, to counter this threat. Constructed along the southern half of Britain, these defences varied greatly from pillboxes to anti tank ditches. Bridges were prepared for demolition and roads were blocked. The greatest threat was from the German armoured colomns, that had swept through France and the Low countries with great speed and success. The anti tank obstacles included hairpins (bent railway tracks dug into the ground), and tombstones, which were huge concrete blocks sloped on one side, and many many other forms. The idea was to expose the soft underside armour of any vehicle trying to pass over it. Making them vulnerable to anti tank weapons. The pillboxes were construced with a brick outer shell and mass pour reinforced concrete using wooden shuttering to speed up consruction. I have tried to capture this fact in this creation. It also features a blast wall protecting the entrance and an anti richochetwall inside. So thats enough of the borin stuff have a look at my creation and please rate and comment, and as always thanks for your time.

I agree, the defenses are best. Maybe change up the road a bit? It seems quite bare. --Garand |
