-V2- Beta is a young spheroid anionic, flung from his workworld into strange, alien territories. ((Note that the previously posted version of Beta is now hilariously non-canon; I now have much more of the characteristics of the spheroids mapped out, as you shall see. Thanks in advance to Shadowgear6335 for helping me along via the Bytes.))
About this creation
This version of Beta was made after I started work on the other Necra Minor characters. I had to make him to scale, which I now have the techniques for. Shadowgear's influence on the storyline changed the characteristics of the Spheroids too, somewhat, but you'll see more on signals later.
Name: Beta (after Greek letter, unknown to Caelestis or Sirrush) Gender: Anionic (-) Species: Spheroid Race: Data Class Occupation: Renegade (Formerly worked in a banking computer complex) Title(s): none Element: All spheroids are considered Psionics/Water oriented. Alignment: Lawful Neutral Typical Weapon: None. Pacifist. MOC Status: Assembled
(The Queenstons (nssRenard) - Set Me Free (Uplift Remix))
Beta was one of a myriad spheroids created by the inionic known as MOTHER on Spherus Minor. He is data-class, meaning his telekinetic powers are lowered, but compensated for by a higher understanding of logic, algorithms, binary and skill with numbers. As such he was selected to work in one of the large system-spanning economic banks of the caelestis, and he created his body (as all spheroids do) to help his work. He is slightly smaller than an Akonian, so as not to loom over them and appear threatening, and his nervous fibres link directly to computer devices via his data-tool on his left arm. The extra scope allows him to scan currency, to find defects and forgeries, using both U.V light and spatial resonance.
Beta was bought out during a hard time for the bank, and was employed again by a mine owner from Sirrush named Kias Therrick. His daughter, Diyana, took pity on him and allowed him free. The literal and lawful Beta, puzzled by this new notion and attempting to rationalise it, was encouraged swiftly to leave. He did so in a small shuttle, persued by an akonian named Diaphamus.
His shuttle crashed on the moon of Necra Minor; a dead realm, riven by a catastrophe two centuries before in which a war had killed its overlooking matriarch, Vermiru. The conflict had been over Chronodermis, of which the moon was rich. (Chronodermis is a substance that was a volatile precursor to Protodermis. It has odd, time-altering properties - and is great for space travel) Life on the moon had ceased after radiation from the chronodermis ore (deathsteel) destroyed it, and then resurrected it continuously. In effect, the moon was infested by undead, their bodies warped in time, but their souls gone.
Thankfully, Beta was found by the unlikeliest of beings after arrival...

That's that for the story so far. Now, a little info for budding Spheroidy buildy people possibly. If you don't want to read this, that's fine. :)
First off, Spheriods have three genders - Anionic (-), Cationic (+), and Inionic (0). Inionics are large and are responsible for the creation of other spheroids when linked with a Cationic and Anionic in a triad. Their lives are tailored towards construction of machines very often, as well, and they dislike wandering around.
Anionics like Beta are usually feferred to as 'he', out of Human habit. They are slightly more analytical than their Cationic kin, and far more rational. They are more likely to manouver a cat out of a tree than throw themselves beneath to cushion its fall. As their name suggests also, their neural transmitters are negatively charged.
Cationics are often considered female, (although it is Inionics with the motherly instinct). They are less rational, feel more strongly and are capable of more vivid displays, colours and harmonies when communicating. They act charismatically. Also, as the name implies, their neural transmitters, which are slightly stronger, are positively charged.
Inside a spheroid is a central nucleus where data is processed. Around this is the chordal gel, which contains a great many photic enzymes and organs of the spheroid. Eight chords, each in their own pocket of air, radiate out from the nucleus and are responsible for creating the harmonies they produce. Biomechanical speakers are also present beneath the nucleus on both sides. To the 'back' of the spheroid is a valve through which neural fibres can be released. These interface with machinery which the speroids themselves create using telekinesis. A biomechanical lobe in a circular, vertical band around their nucleus allows this, as well as a limited form of telepathy.
The outer, spherical membrane of a spheroid is halway between skin and plasma screen. It is hard and resistant to dirt, and able to shine in many different colours, the meanings of which are;
Blue: Defensiveness, such as keeping a master from harm or in argument.
Solid Blue: Stubbornness
Light Blue: Gear-mindedness, recognition of problems and solutions
Red: Concentration, deep thought and calculation
Banded Red: (HF 2.0 villain ammo) Overload, vexation, stress, inability to calculate
Green: Violence, desire to kill
Pale green: Fear, desire to flee
Silver: Asleep, pretending to be asleep
Gold: Dead. Chordal Gel has decayed.
Spiked, with black band: VIRAL! Shell has disintergrated and chords are sticky with slime. Extremely dangerous! Able to fire arcs of psionic energy. Chaotic.
White: Low light levels.
Black: Certain diseases cause this
Clear: Hiding, stealthed
Chaotic Multicolour: High
Dark Green: Strong emotion, patriotism, love, happiness, desire to help others.
Solid Green: Extasy
All spheroids display sigils and colured segments over their base colour as well as sounds and chords to communicate. Among other civilised races they adopt their languages.
The base colours are a throwback to their 'Byte' (or izarrikha) prototypes, which stay fixed in one emotional path unlike the spheroids, who can switch in a split second.
I built a couple things you might be interested in, first is Shift, a battle robot built to destroy deathsteel affected people. Second is a spheroid that a built. Try to check them out, also GOOD WORK HERE!
"Actually, the thornax-virals are first."
Yeah, I know, but it was ONE picture that does not mean ANYTHING. If I took a picture of my foot and posted it here, would I have to follow it with more feet and a story line? NO!
So, in other words, your virUSES will HAVE to be like mine in the same story line and with my approval and credit given to me for the viruses(not bytes).
Better luck next time mate! I got mine on first so your story line will have to coincide with mine and you will also have to redo your Trojan Viral!!! BAM! POW! NOOGIE!
Dang it! I do not have Defilak. And even if I did, I would only build Shadow Toa's self-MOC Toa Snipe with it. I wish I never lost my Kanohi Zatth when I was a kid.

This Spheroid looks amazing! BTW, I'm building Gringat but I don't have a Kanohi Zatth. Do you know where to get a Kanohi Zatth aside from shopping online seeing as I'm not allowed to do online shopping.
I love the simple shapes and lines of Beta. It could easily fit in a variety of sci-fi story lines. Maybe posting the directions to construct one would be a way of promoting more of them being forged into a new group.

Nice! That bit about the 'Choatic Multicolor' for a Spheroid made me laugh. Great job on Beta! The backstory is really interesting and deserves a whole story in the BRC/BRCII. Fantastic!
