The Lamppost
Based on C.S. Lewis's magical masterpiece, "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe" from the "Chronicles of Narnia" series, this small vignette depicts Lucy Pevensie's first encounter with Narnia. In the snow-covered forest, she happens upon a mysterious lamppost and meets a faun named Mr. Tumnus. This vignette and its characters are not influenced by the film version of the story, but are products of my own imagination, and of my *coughlimitedcough* selection of elements. :-) Anyhow, please explore the wintery wonderland of Narnia, and be sure to rate and comment! Enjoy!
About this creation
I would have liked to have had Lucy and Mr. Tumnus be flesh-toned, but my torso collection does not include a flesh colored torso for Mr. Tumnus. But I can't complain. The yellow skin does have a sort of "classic" feel to it, and I'm happy with the way it looks.

I am most pleased with the way the lamppost turned out. This really is the focal point of the vignette and the scene in the book. It is constructed here out of a lance, a droid arm, two steering wheels, six levers, a tire, and a black minifig head. The lamppost has a special, magical feel in the story, and I wanted to keep that special feel through my Lego version.

Credit goes to Hopeso 009 for the genius faun technique that I ruthlessly STOLE from him. MUAHAHAHA!

The creation "dis-figured."

Mr. Tumnus, the faun, and Lucy Penvensie.

Of course, the requisite artistic shot!

Special thanks to Ian Spacek who inspired me to attempt this.

Oh! And before I forget! I'd like to direct my visitors to the MOC Scavenger Hunt. It's a place to get your creations noticed, and to flex your deductive skills! Head over through the link to learn more about how you can be a part!

Edit: Bonus! This vignette was blogged on Legend Bricks! Of course, I don't know what they said about it, it's all in Chinese. Ugh. I should have taken that Mandarin class after all...

I am constantly in awe of all your work - but this is one of your best vignettes. The smooth snow work on the base and the lamp-post design were wonderful. Mr. Tumnus was excellent, and I know I will use that technique sometime. (Credit to Hopeso 009 of course). However I'm not so sure about Lucy. She's just...I don't know how to put it...

Amen Ian! Mr. Tumnus rocks. I just want to say again how great the tree is. And Mr. Tumnus. After playing that role I just want to say that as bad as Grace said Lucy was, I think that over all the vig was just great.

Quoting Legofreak2444 . Cool! Nice idea for the Mr. Tumnus' legs!...Mind if I use that design?
Well, you must remember, this is not my design. Please don't credit me. Hopeso 009 originated the technique, and as long as you give him proper credit, I think you can go right ahead.

Oh yeah...Peter! I had kind of forgotten about him, *the light clicks on* (Da!), it would be my Narnia mini-fig. Sorry I was kind of slow there. With "Far from home" I was thinking along the lines of: "snow". Nice fawn by the way! Go Mr. Tumnus!

Quoting Ian Spacek Awesome Paul! The funny thing is I saw this on the homepage and went to comment, before I even knew it was created by you! What a pleasant surprise! Well presented! For the record I like your Lucy design, whatever Max says...(sorry Max, I couldn't resist). Thanks for the credit by the way. How did I inspire you? Far from home?
Actually it was your Peter that inspired Max to say, "We should do more Narnia stuff on here," Which then inspired Nathan to agree, saying, "we should do more narnia," which in turn inspired me to agree with both of them, saying, "There should be more Narnia MOCs on this site." Of course, I would be a hypocrite to say that without actually acting on it, so taadaa! "The Lamppost." Wait... does this mean Max and Nathan are hypocrites? Hmm... maybe I shouldn't have said that... *backs nervously out of sticky situation got self into.*
