This was entered in the SPECIAL PIECES GROUP in January 18, 2012. UPDATED & REPAIRED: The "system crash" of last week gave me a chance to reorganize most of my larger presentations, this was yet another one that got a rehaul. I introduce it with the merpeople then the beginngs followed by the separate parts: The Trone Room, The Bridge and the Treasury. It's followed by King Hydro - the BAD GUY! UPDATED: Thursday, April 14, 2011. The thrones are done and General Hook is introduced (in his 2 hair styles as well as the villian who tries to steal the life gems! UPDATED: Tuesday, March 22, 2011. The story of the 'mer-people' continues. I have added the THRONE ROOM (thrones soon to come) and the bridge that connects the 'new' THRONE ROOM with the TREASURY where artifacts collected and the precious crystals are kept. The villian is soon to come! Note: The Throne Room has a statue of an Ancient One to remind them they all began with LEGS! UPDATE: Saturday, March 5, 2011. There's a lot new with the merpeople. The men have defined chests. the King and Queen's servents have colored wigs. There's a new tail for the king. A new torso for one mermaid. More fish have entered the scene! The VILLIAN should arrive the end of next week! And I am making plans for a THRONE ROOM with a connecting bridge! UPDATE: Saturday, February 26, 2011. I finally go the PIRATES ISLAND base plate and the parts needed so the treasury room was created and I finally got the colored wigs! Next to come the villian who is after the 'magic crystals'! UPDATED: Saturday, February 19, 2011 I finally got the gold pieces in and I added more fish. I bought the baseplate for them and a few surprises are coming! I added close-ups of each character! A villian is in the making! Mermaids and Mermen are my favorite mythological creatures and way before LEGO came out with a mermaid and merman in their Fantasy Lego Mini-figure set I did!
Get your snorkles ready and swim on down!
Help the king and queen guard the sacred jewels!

I just mean there's a slight lack of cohesion. It seems almost like several small MOCs put into one. That's just my personal opinion though.
And you didn't say besides your viewpoint of "lack of cohesion" and "choppy" if you like it or if it has any merit! |

Luke originally I did a flat background just to showcase my mermaids and mermen! But then I thought to myself what if they were done as a real LEGO Set? I then came out with the Treasure Room, then the King's chambers then a bridge to connect them! The story of How General Hook lost his hand was a third set! so you got the feeling - but not "choppy" more like 2 sets that could be connected with other individual sets that could be added to the connection! The cohesion comes with the theme MERMAIDS & MERMEN a theme only hinted at in the Harry Potter series! So that makes this set unique and plausible! You need to think outside the box! |

This is a nice underwaterscape, but I find it a little too colourful and there are too many gaps. Some of the photos are good, but others are blurry, and the background isn't always proper. I see some creative parts usage, and interesting parts. Good work, and good luck!
THANK YOU for your well wishes!
I left all the pictures the good with the bad because I wanted to show how with practice you can get better! I also left all the ones that I just took without concern for the background and added the better ones with the BLUE background which is now my signature! I DID THIS because I was a teacher and think it important to show the younger or first time MOCpagers we can improve! As for too colorful, I kept a green/tan color throughout the model the only pops of color are the wigs and the "life gems".
Now a question: "What did you mean by GAPS?" |
