Winter Chapel - REDONE - September 22, 2012
ANNOUNCEMENT: I have finally been able to redo this whole MOC from the bottom up! I got rid of the "coffee table" pictures and the BLURRY pictures and the number of pictures I displayed. I edited and took a whole series of BRAND NEW PICTURES! After all this set is the first set that got me 1,000 views and is a set with the greatest number of compliments. As an extra treat (using my Kitchen table) I have showed you just how it fits with the other WINTER VILLAGE Sets! So consider this WINTER CHAPEL REDONE my early Christmas Present to all of you! GREAT NEWS: as of today, January 23, 2012 I hit 1,004 views!!! THANK YOU ALL OF YOU!What a wonderful way to celebrate this MOCs 1st Anniversary! Life is strange JANUARY 11, 2012 I have been keeping a close eye on this MOC and thought it would be the FIRST to hit the 1,000 mark but my Santa Sleigh came in first! To see it follow this link: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/248705 and please leave a comment with 1,004 views it has no comments! Thank You all my supporters and all who stop by my stuff! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL! Note: This MOC was done in my early days on MOCpages, it was before I stopped and took notice of the comments, one of which was to shoot it with a neutral background! I have since done that using my signature BLUE Background! UPDATE & REPAIR: Tuesday, September 13, 2011 Since this lost most of the pictures due to the "system crash" of last week it gave me the opportunity to not only update & repair it but to organize it as well! I introduce it with the evolution of the chapel, then the front gate and its progress, then St. Michael's statue with its design updates, then the fountain with its evolution, the white sleigh (how else do you get to church) and the caretaker ends the repair along with final pics of the Winter Chapel. When I do the dialogue I will remove all blurry pictures! WINTER CHAPEL NEWS: WINTER CHAPEL NEWS: There has been too many changes and UPDATES that it is hard to keep each component in a logical, organized way. So I will be splitting up each into its own area. TI will only be keeping the church and the church with a full view here, you will find: THE WINTER CHAPEL FOUNTAIN in its own area, the WINTER CHAPEL CARETAKER in another and the WINTER CHAPEL ST. MICHAEL STATUE in yet another separate zone and finally both the WINTER CHAPEL FRONT GATE and the WINTER CHAPEL SLEIGH will be housed in their own areas! It will make more sence and they are the churches' bling so this way they will not detract from it! As you see the church and its grounds, if you want to see the details of any detail you only need go to to its own area! I will also be joining them in a new folder: The WINTER CHAPEL 2011 so each part will be asy to find. Although 'mocpages' will list the new areas they are not new but redirected! I would like to take the time to thank all the visitors who helped make my WINTER CHAPEL the first of my creations to go over 200 visitors! I am humbled especially knowing some of those visitors' LEGO Creations far surpass mine! I AM HUMBLED! UPDATED: February 21, 2011. I organized the pictures and enlarged them, I do listen to you guys! I also added text! UPDATED: Sunday, February 6, 2011 - I gave the caretaker a center to place his shovel and broom and a place to get water from and a garbage disposal. I also updated the statue in the garden - "St. Michael". As an addition to the "WINTER" Series, I offer my Winter Chapel. The sleigh will be coming as soon as I download it! Well it's been downloaded today 1/23/11 As well as the updated roof! It includes the chapel - with LIGHT BRICK! It also includes a fountain with a friendly thirsty bird and a St. Michael Statue. The front gate is open so step in! Don't forget your LEGO Prayer Book!

Hi Nick. Thank you so much for your comments on my Iron Man – one of my own personal favourites. I also really appreciate the mention on your homepage, glad to be of service ;). This is great, I really like the chapel but my favourite parts are the statue of the saint (or knight) and the water fountain. Almost 1000 views :)

Wow! Very creative. I really like the part usages on some of the details, such as the song books and the cart! However, I really think you could have improved on your presentation. I would use a better background, and delete the blurry images-you would still have an ample amount of great pictures if you did! Still....5/5! -LB Senior

I would say there are quite a few highlights, like the gates, the snow, etc. P.S. Have you tried using web cams to take photos? I tried it once and it didn't work that well. But maybe it was because that the web cam is only 15 NZD

Quoting cyberfrank 2010 very inspirational work, and welcome to the pages! [hint pick the biggest size pic, so that people don t have to click on them,] i like your use of the toy shop kit! i also used it for a toy shop, i like your chapel design, it s just the right size, as the interior shows, very nice! i also love the walls and gates, the statue is one of the finest i ve seen to date! the sleigh is superb, the fountain and snow carrier are nice touches, how to improve, the roof is only partially snowed, it would look better completely covered, try to put slopes over the windows, it would be more elegant, the bell should be round, try using the same part you used for your cone truck, exept black, you inspired me for this idea, as i have no intention of doing a bell! lol! i think you should play around those ideas, as this is very nicely done, it s almost perfect! overall, it a splendid scene! excellent work!
I chose the bell from the FIRE BRIGADE Modular only did it in black instead of "gold". The cone was too small and out of scale!

Hey Nick, I had seen this one before and hadn't the time to stop by but your comment reminded me. The statue is actually a fairly common technique as you figured out;) Excellent idea though the photography needs a little work but no more than most of us whenever we first started! Great start.

Quoting Hans DendauwNPD Hey, Nick, thanks for the comment and favorite add. From the dates on these I assume that you are new to our little community, so welcome aboard! My first bit of advice for you is to get a backdrop. Large poster-board works best, it's cheap and comes in multiple colors, but a sheet will also work just fine. Second, don't use your flash when taking pics, instead use desk lamps or even natural light, as this will eliminate a lot of glare. Lastly, use a tripod or some stacked books to immobilize the camera and prevent blurring of your pics. This also allows you to experiment with varying shutter speeds for low-light photography. I hope I'm not being too forward with my advice, just trying to help a fellow enthusiast with the pain-in-the-posterior that is LEGO photographing. I dig your chapel, it really fits well with the winter theme.~H
H - I have every intention of reshooting almost all of my stuff, I wanted to finally get them on. I am aware of lighting. I used to be a free lance photographer (photojournalistic stuff) for UPI. But I am disabled and most stuff takes me a longer time. My right wrist is believe it or not BIONIC! I want to reshoot because I'd like to add dialogue as well. I appreciate both your time to welcome me as well as your advice. I get natural light and use a digital but I use fill in flash (when I remember to program it) or as you said desk lamps. No insult taken, constructive critism is always welcomed! TY---Nick ;)
