About this creation

Here we are, my first MOC of 2011 (actually the last of 2010, it's just taken me 3 weeks to get round to posting it). This is not the first G1 Wheeljack on MOCpages - I took inspiration both from this one by Chris Roach and especially this one by Jervis Schindel, who was kind enough to post building instructions. The head and shoulder joints here are closely based on Jervis'.

Transforms from fairly poseable robot form...

...to a Lancia Stratos Turbo racer, of which only a few were ever built.

The original toy had two shoulder mounted rocket launchers, but in fiction he was often shown with just one (otherwise from most angles you can't see his face.)

I find building a transformer on this scale incredibly frustrating! It's a constant trade-off between the look of the alt mode, the look of the robot, poseability and solidity.

This time I was more focused on getting the car looking right, with the result that the robot is a bit blocky (but then, so was the original toy...)

Look no back kibble! Or anything very much on the back, actually. Looks as though that extreme hip and thigh diet went a bit too far.

Wheeljack is apparently the best driver of the autobots.

That half stud offset for the front wheels was necessary to accommodae the hip joints - but it helps with the car shape too.

Love your version of Wheeljack, both robot & alt-mode are faithful to the original G1 character, and the transformation sequence is incredible, Nice one! :D

Awesome job! Both modes look great! I really like how you got the legs to flip out and the use of ball joints for the hips. The blue windshield adds a nice touch too. The engine pieces on the head kind of remind of sunstreaker. Maybe you could use the same ideas to make a sunstreaker since they kind of transform the same. Just an idea. :) Keep up the good work!!!
