Prometheus- a.k.a. the AEGAKS- VACXP or Variable Air Compound Experimental Prototype.
In Greek mythology, Prometheus (Ancient Greek: , "forethought") is a Titan. He was a champion of mankind, known for his wily intelligence, stole fire from Zeus and gave it to mortals. Zeus then punished him for his crime by having him bound to a rock while a great eagle ate his liver every day only to have it grow back to be eaten again the next day. His myth has been treated by a number of ancient sources, in which Prometheus is credited with or blamed for playing a pivotal role in the early history of mankind. Prometheus AEGAKS is much the same. Rumor has it that this unit may possibly be a second generation version of Mecha One itself which is still programmed with the original A.I. codex to defend humanity. Its true origins though remain unknown. What makes Prometheus AEGAKS so frighteningly powerful is that it is two separate combat units that can engage enemy units independently or merge and fight as one!
About this creation

If its one thing that can be said for the Prometheus AEGAKS is that packs enough firepower to decimate a whole regiment of enemy forces and then lay back and sip on a barrel of premium grade oil with a grin on its faceplate. Thats of course if it had an oil receptacle, or a faceplate!

At the very core of the fuselage a matter/anti-matter chamber provides a virtually unlimited power supply for all the ships weapons and functions. An Atlas Series Electro Magnetic Force Shield Generator contains the one-one hundred trillionth of a gram of anti-matter. Should the shield ever fail or more likely is deactivated due to the initiation of a self-destruct command, the ensuing blast would vaporize everything within a spherical diameter of five kilometers!

A second Atlas shield generator was also installed to act as a backup unit but its primary function was to protect the Prometheus AEGAKS itself. This shield has two distinct power settings. The first is for reentry into the atmosphere. By redirecting all of the shields power beneath it, the Prometheus AEGAKS literally rides the force field down into the atmosphere without being exposed to the tremendous temperatures created by a reentry burn. The second setting is for combat. This shield encompasses the entire body and can be kept up for five minutes before shutting down for sixty seconds to recalibrate the emitters.

A set of large caliber laser cannons can also be found on each should pad. These guns provide triple the range and twice the power of the angled lasers. However they can only be fired in whatever direction the shoulder pads are pointing.

The most powerful weapons on the Prometheus are the Cyclops particle projectile cannons. One cannon is mounted to each arm on its own separate turret. An up close look reveals the optical sensor on each cannon thereby removing the need for the primary sensor array in the head to track the cannons targets.

While in combined form, Prometheus is most deadly in full gun mode but is too heavy to fight effectively in melee combat. However, once the pilot block disengages and the wing pods are ejected, Prometheus activates its two handed beam saber and becomes a deadly battle droid.

One of the many unique weapons found on this machine is the angled laser cannon. The barrels of these weapons may be adjusted to target enemies from multiple trajectories. This proves a fatal surprise to any foe who thinks they can fire unopposed from such an attack vector. Six of these guns are strategically placed with four of them mounted to the fuselage and two on the pilot block.

Like all AEGAKS ever built Prometheus possesses a detachable pilot block. Unlike other blocks though, it transforms into a fully combat operational fighter! Capable of reaching speeds of Mach 8, it has a maximum flight range of 6,000 miles before needing to reconnect to Prometheus and recharge its power cells. When the two are connected though, Prometheus can fly indefinitely and supposedly reach the velocity necessary to break free of earths gravity and launch itself into orbit!

The flight controls in the cockpit uses a neural link tied directly into Prometheus A.I. that allows complete control of the craft in both atmospheric and deep space maneuvers.

On top of the two laser cannons, the pod is also equipped with a pair of Soul Scorcher HPC-71s (heavy plasma cannons). The cannons launch a burst every five seconds that can easily destroy an enemy drone but are mainly intended for crippling larger fortifications and ships or mechs.

On each folding wing there is a pair of missiles. The standard array is typically consists of an Artemis one-shot, one kill homing missile and a Hades EMP mini-bomb. The Artemis missiles are for those high speed buggers that arent willing to die in a blaze of laser bursts while the Hades are perfect for turning squads of enemies into sitting ducks for merciless slaughter!

In this shot we see the pilot. All that is known about this enigmatic man who only calls himself Torojika who clearly isnt even Asian! What is known is that he holds no allegiance to any human faction. Torojika and Prometheus blow in like a whisper on the wind, lay waste to their foes and move on. If ever there was a real life Deus Ex Machina, or perhaps in this case a Deus Ex Mechina then these two wandering souls would certainly earn that badge in a heartbeat.

BUILDERS COMMENTARY:
This is my first official build for 2011 and will hopefully be the first of many more (provided life doesnt get in the way too much). Special kudos goes out to Jason Dominguez for inspiring this MOC and more importantly for keeping this storyline alive. I dare say his version is far superior that the mindless dribble originally put out by the company and if Exo-Force was ever brought back (as if) then I would nominate Jason to be placed in charge of its release, or at least the product line (and then he could hire the rest of us to contribute and earn some royalties too)!

Also I would like to thank Hans DendauwNPD for giving me some much needed tips on my photography which hopefully shows through in these new pictures. I am not blind to think however that my skills are complete. So if there any other suggestions on taking high quality pictures, please feel free to pass them along. They would be most appreciated!

Quoting Shadowa Heartfelt This is a wonderful addition into the AEGAKS:REBIRTH group. the Mini/Micro thing is simply the start of a series I'm working on, and hoping others will soon follow. Rebirth is about predominately space travel, and Variable "combiner" AEGAKS. My plan after I take pictures of the Mini AEGAKS-903 "Ascent" with the Flight Enhancement Pack (FEP-903, "Shining Star")I plan on adding that the Mini/Micro series is full of combiner AEGAKS and drone mechs.
Thanks, this is actually the first AEGAKS I ever built. I wanted to try something different than what I usually build in mechs and I thought everyone who builds these might get a kick out this little ditty!

Quoting Mike Johnson Actually this is my first attempt at a transformer styled mech using Exo-Force joints. Maybe I'll try another one at some point.
Not Bad For A First Attempt, The GDFVU-002 Ursus Was My First At Something That Transformed, Though It's Not A Huge Transformation And It Was Actually An Accident, As I Didn't Set Out To Make A Transformer.

Thanks again for the input. I'm still a rank amateur when it comes to photography and I have the feeling that my pictures can be drastically improved upon. At least I know I'm moving in the right direction.

hey mike got a great idea: what if we make a oun aegaks line :'AEGAKS evolution'the story will be that the humans have beaten the drones and the world has to be expanded to space so the go to mars (so jason used exo-force as base we will use mars mission as base). well? ps 1 i already started a group named AEGAKS evolution ps 2 sorry for my bad english

Thank you and not a problem but what's your email address? If there's some discrete way to let me know, feel free to share it. By the way my design doesn't have to be of your story if it upsets the balance of power too much. I mainly built this to see if I could and for the fun of it!

Quoting Hans DendauwNPD One other thing, you can try different colored backdrops and achieve varying lighting results as well. I'm using black, which comes off as grey, and I find it gives a nice contrast of light and dark.~H
Thanks for all the advice on taking better pictures. I've been using a tripod but the tips on lighting and shutter speed will definitely help. All in all I would take lessons in photography if work and life in general wouldn't keep getting in the way. As far as the mech goes, even I recognize the combined mech is too much. In fact the separate components look better and the combined fighter mode is possibly my favorite version as well.

Quoting Hyun Chang Amazing mech! i can't believe you could actually be able to fit the pilot block onto the mech (due to its large size). One thing i have to say that's not that good about this mech is the amount of weapons. You would have to acknowledge that a mech with that amount of firepower wouldn't be able to walk or walk...slowly. All in all, this mech gets a 101 in my book. Kudos to you!
Well, when I built this thing what I threw out first were all rules of reality and went for full out insanity. I think I pulled off that one pretty well!

Super awesome playability factor FTW! I also feel that it seems a bit busy in mech mode, but the high level of detail achieved in flight mode makes up for that. As for your pics, I suggest aiming your light source at the backdrop, using more of a peripheral lighting effect. The light will reflect off of the white surface, helping to envelope the MOC and cut down on the glare you get with direct lighting. Using a tripod and varying your shutter speed will also allow you to photograph with less lighting. Lastly, I will position my body in front of any light source that might be giving off unwanted glare, such as a window or overhead light. Hope you get something useful from that, I know how frustrating it can be to get quality shots.~H

Quoting Mithryl Dlarix Very cool mech. It looks like you pulled out all the stops with this one. I particularly like the frame on this one, with the AT-AT joints for knees--they really do provide superior stability, don't they? In any case, my only real complaint is how busy the mech looks in mech-mode. It looks like a unified whole in flight-mode, which is where a lot of the shoulder kibbles come from in mech mode. I don't really know what can be done about that though. Of particular note here is the coolness that is the beam sabres. Once again, you have totally wowed me with your beam sabre ideas. Great job!
As always thank you my friend for your insight. In retrospect I do agree the combined mech mode is a bit much, not to mention it's so heavy that even with reinforced knees, I still have to be careful how I pose it because the hip joints still sometimes buckle if the center of gravity is off too much. As far as the arm/cannon/wings go I probably should gone with less but like you noticed, I just let it all hang out to see what I could get away with. Last but not least is the beam saber. I simply wanted it to look as nasty as possible ant I think I pulled that one off at least! Thanks again for the feedback.

Thanks for the nod. I built this using my SF-3 Vengeance fighter (literally, I needed the parts) and turned it into an AEGAKS. I'm sorry to say I don't know Genesic GaoGaiGar but Optimus Prime uses the same color palate so I figured if it's good enough for him, it's good enough for Prometheus too!
