AEGAKS-APB 004K D-Gy 'Cerunnos Kaiser'
The rebuilt and upgraded form of AEGAKS-APB 004 D-Gy Cerunnos, codenamed Cerunnos Kaiser. equipped with Schrado Industries signature SHINIGAMI System.
About this creation
AEGAKS-APB 004K D-Gy ‘Cerunnos Kaiser’

This is the Rebuild of AEGAKS-APB 004 D-Gy, codenamed ‘Cerunnos Kaiser’. The Cerunnos Mk II was nearly destroyed in a two on one duel against a pair of Ghost Raptors. The scientists of Sentai Province rebuilt and upgraded it, renaming it the Cerunnos Kaiser. The armor on the entire mech was upgraded to an alloy of Titanium and Orichalconium, making it essentially bulletproof. The Orichalconium makes it acid resistant as well, though acid still does damage. (Creator’s Notes: Inspired by Gundam Exia of Gundam 00 and Guren Mk II from Code Geass)

The biggest change the Kaiser implements is a completely rebuilt left arm. At first glance, it just looks like a shield that is split down the middle, but…

The reason for this quickly becomes clear. The arm isn’t just a shield, it is also a sword! (Inspired by Gundam Exia of Gundam 00) The sword is sharpened on all edges, and it is strong enough to still be used as a shield.

The Wave Pulse claw was also upgraded; here it is in its Drill mode. The forearm and claw spin in opposite directions, allowing the claw to be launched at high speeds, drilling through virtually any enemy. This attack is called the Wave Pulse Magnum, and it can be verbally activated if the pilot chooses that mode. The drill can also be used without firing the claw.

The Wave Pulse Claw utilizes the MPTE (Multiple Pulse Types Emitter) as a short-to-mid range attack. There are three basic types of pulse; Destroy, Incinerate, and Defense. This is the Incinerate mode. Generally used when grappling with enemy mecha, this type of pulse is designed to fuse and destroy armor and electrical systems. It is a weapon primarily used to cripple foes, but it is quite capable of destroying them as well, it just takes longer.

Green pulses generally mean Defense or Shield mode, this type is used for absorbing or deflecting energy or particle based weapons, depending on the pulse wavelength. Defense Mode can also block beam swords, opening the way for swift and brutal retaliation with the Folding Blade.

This is the Wave Pulse Claw’s Destroy mode. Destroyer type pulses act as a sort of EMP taking out enemy Mech’s control systems, it is basically a more unstable form of Incinerate Mode, generating the most power, but has the greatest potential to backfire, which would burn out the MPTE System. (Creator’s note, MPTE is pronounced ‘empty’) When the SHINIGAMI System is activated, the three Pulse Types merge into the Ultimate Mode, capable of producing a giant beam of energy that can be used as either a projectile or a melee weapon. (Creator’s note again: SHINING FINGER SWORD!)

A shot of the revised shoulder armor, with extra cooling fins attached. The long grey thing is a blade attached to the Claw Arm. With the addition of the Folding blade, Cerunnos Kaiser’s arms are pretty much made of blades.

A shot of the upgraded thigh armor. This armor provides a valuable counterweight to the now fearsome weight of the top half of Cerunnos Kaiser.

The rebuilt foot. It has more cooling fins than the previous version, and it is also more heavily armored. The ‘toes’ on the front and back can be fired into the ground to prevent the Kaiser from being knocked over by physical impacts.

A shot of the back with all cooling flaps open and SHINIGAMI Core activated.

SHINIGAMI is an acronym which stands for:
Secondary
Hyperactive
Intrinsic
Neural
Interface
Gyroidal
Attack
Maneuver
Initiator
The way the system works is: Basically, the pilot activates their secondary Neural Uplink, providing a direct access between the unit’s main computer system and the pilot’s mind, unlocking the full abilities of the Neural Trace system, including the head, because the SHINIGAMI System requires the sheer processing power of the Human brain in order to perform the complex equations that come with fracturing the crystal rod that makes up the core of the Drive Booster unit. The crystal rod contains enough energy to power a D-type frame for several months, so when it shatters, all of that energy is released at once, quadrupling the weapon and motion systems output for about fifteen minutes. The rod actually releases more energy, but fifteen minutes is about the maximum amount of time that the pilot can handle, and after about twenty minutes, the D-Type frame will actually explode from within, destroying or severely damaging anything within about a half-mile radius, as well as completely destroying the unit. A beneficial side effect of this system is that it will completely recharge the main and auxiliary power cells. The crystal rod is partially used up once the system is activated so it should be replaced after use. The prohibitive cost of the core of the booster unit consequently means that there are very few SHINIGAMI equipped mecha. All of the cooling fins must be open when the system is activated, or the Frame will melt. In order to activate the SHINIGAMI system, the pilot has to verbally disable the limiter and manually input a code word of his choice, one for each of the four levels of the SHINIGAMI system. Levels one through three increase the output of the unit exponentially, but level four is a desperation move that funnels all the generated power through the frame at once, burning out the circuits and killing the pilot nine times out of ten. The one time that it didn’t kill the pilot, it left him catatonic, so level four is a method of last resort. The four levels of the SHINIGAMI System correspond to the amount of the Crystal Rod that was shattered. Level one takes one fourth, level two takes one half and so on. The unbroken pieces of crystal Rod can be recycled into other cores and used again.

Apologies for the picture quality here, I just couldn’t get it to look right otherwise. Here we see the AEGAKS-APB 472 Durandal squaring off against Cerunnos Kaiser. The advantages of the Durandal in this fight are increased speed, greater mobility, and ranged weaponry. However, the Kaiser has closed in to melee range, nullifying those advantages. In this kind of situation Kaiser is supreme.

As seen here, Hector Grey, the Durandal pilot is in a bit of a predicament. The Kaiser has a hold of his pilot block and is bringing the sword to bear.

Yeah, things aren’t looking so hot for Durandal. I just wanted to show of the new weaponry of the Kaiser and I used the Arthas last time. I couldn’t use any of the other D-Frames because they are more difficult to pose.

A shot of the frame, with Wave Pulse claw, Folding Blade, Pilot Block, Power cell, System Core, and tri-barreled Rifle removed. The triple rifle was the only thing mostly unchanged, the ammo clip was replaced with a more streamlined version, and it still utilizes the VAT (Variable Ammunition Types) System.

The Wave Pulse Claw, not much new here.

This weapon is my pride and joy, the Folding Blade! Inspired by Gundam Exia, this is the first time I’ve seen it done in this scale.

Another shot of the Folding Blade.

Unfolded folding blade.

As seen here the blade is nearly as tall as the mech itself. The Blade is sharpened along all of its edges, making it deadly from any angle.

The Pilot Block with the pilot, Garret Ward. This is probably the thing I changed the least on the Cerunnos. The Head still contains the emergency high-power cutting laser common on all AEGAKS APBs. Garret Ward (he has a different head now) is consumed by an overwhelming rage against all things of a robotic nature, but the reasons for it are unknown to all except himself. That being said, Garret is a remarkable pilot, possessing ace-level skill, and high intellect. He is a skilled fighter, well able to utilize the strengths of the D-Frame and the Cerunnos Kaiser in particular. Garret and Hector Grey, Pilot of the Durandal don’t get along well, and it may be only a matter of time before they come to blows. His rage makes him hard to predict, but his motives are clear enough. He doesn’t necessarily want to win; he just wants his enemies to die. As many and as quickly as possible. Garret didn’t escape Eagle Base with the rest of the Shinigami Squad, he didn’t make it to their transport in time, so he stayed behind to obtain transport for himself. He managed to hijack a flying robot transport and flew it to Sentai Province where he met up with the rest of the squad. (the shot of the closed pilot block didn't upload for some reason)

Creator’s Notes
Here it is, the rebuild of the Cerunnos that I said I’d build. Cerunnos is by far my favorite mech, which is why I keep rebuilding it. Credit for inspiration behind the frame, pilot block and the AEGAKS name goes, as always, to Jason Dominguez. You’ll probably only see rebuilds like this or upgrades to my existing mechs for a while, since I’m still out of joint pieces.

Please leave a comment, your opinions help make me a better builder.

Until Next Time, Keep Building!

Fantastic upgrades on the blade-shield arm claw. I also find the new feet and armor most inspiring. As far as joints go, you don't have to rely so heavily on just those exo-force ones. Go through your supplies and try to invent some new joints. You might come up with something even better!

It looks like the ultimate, no-nonsense melee fighter. Great improvements

Great, a visible improvement of Cerunnos. The shield/sword is a nice touch, the overall armor seems very though. The only think I still don't like is the lenght of the right arm. It looks so out of the entire idea. The claw is great indeed, but the arm could be shorter. Anyways, great AEGAKS unit!
