The prototype of the mechanoid that will turn the tides of war.
About this creation
In the war between man and machine... man is winning.
Thanks to their ingenuity, spirit, and courage, the humans began to slowly overpower the machines with the superiority of their AEGAKS. Perhaps this endless war that ravaged the Earth will finally come to an end. Perhaps humanity will win.
But... It's inexplicably odd....
Following the Great Turn, the series of battles that lead to humanity's slow turn of the tides, the machines went virtually quiet. No further battles. No further violence. A calm... an unsettling peace... wafted over the mountain tops of the Earth.
The Week of Silence
For 5 days, the machines' presence was virtually nonexistent. This peace allowed the many forces of the human army to rest, recouperate, and repair. And they did. Many praised God for this gift of peace. Others cursed God, knowing it was but the overture for something coming.
One Day Later
The Earth erupted in an enormous tremor. Following this tremor came massive amounts of spacetime distortions that, while not quite harmful, were far from harmless. Humanity panicked, but... nothing came of this. Again, the silence settled.
The Following Morning
From the horizon, they came. The machines. Bigger, stronger, and more powerful than ever. These new mechanoids held an intense pressure. The humans fought bravely against the newly arisen threat, but alas... the mechanoids were incomprehensibly strong. Impossibly strong. How could they have evolved so much so fast? The AEGAKS armies held fast but the line of defense was beginning to break down. Slowly, but steadily, the machines' new weapons turned the tides of war once more.
Two Days Later
The war had returned to the way it began. It seemed as if man were destined to lose the war. But, as soon as hearts began to sank... salvation arrived. A spacetime distortion, one of many that now plagued the Earth, opened and stabilized within the humans' main base in Japan. From it, came contact. Contact from a parallel world.
The Eye of Hope
The distortion became a reliable connection between the AEGAKS Earth and the parallel one. To make matters more fortunate, the humans of this other Earth expressed great desire to asssist the human resistance. The parallel humans spoke of their own mechanoid technology -powerful machines called Mobile Armor Systems that could crush whole armies in a matter of minutes. Unfortunately, due to federal red tape issues, the parallel humans could not supplement the AEGAKS with their machines but they could send materials and instructions to allow the resistance to create new machines that could help humanity win once and for all.
The Brave of Skies is Born!
One week after the establishment of the Eye of Hope, the connection between Earths, the human resistance had created a new, powerful machine -a hybrid of AEGAKS and MAS and something even more- that, while still vastly prototype, has proved it just might be the ace they need.
This is that prototype: the Brave of Skies, the LAHM-VFAC 01 ValFigh
The Large Armored Humanoid Machine - Variable Form Aerial Combiner is a modular mechanoid that packs a punch and several surprises. Let's start from the top and work our way down:

Fully equipped with its current armaments: the Kaiser Cannon and Kaiser Missile. These two weapons pack hefty punches that can tear most anything to shreds. Unfortunately, they are very hard to aim if either ValFigh or the enemy are mobile. In this mode, ValFigh is referred to as "Kaiser ValFigh".

Backside with Kaiser weaponry equipped. The jet engines act as counter-fire to keep Kaiser ValFigh from toppling over when the Kaiser Cannon is fired.

The Kaiser weapons by themselves. Eventually, engineers hope to create a mobile tank that can use these weapons itself in addition to combining with ValFigh to maximize fighting power.

The Kaiser Cannon is a pure energy beam weapon, akin to the DIVINE Buster. Its miniature scale means less punch than the DIVINE Buster, but it's still powerful enough to blow a hole through anything stupid enough to stand still.

ValFigh without the Kaiser weapons. this mode is referred to as "Dai ValFigh" (Great ValFigh). At the moment, it does not have many smaller weaponry, so it mainly just bashes things in a la Godannar but who can argue with that? Both Godannar and GaoGaiGar have proven that mutilation is just as if not more effective than the strongest weapons in the universe.

Backside. The top horizontal slope piece is a heat dissipater for the systems. The vertical inverted slope is removable and adjustable back armor. Note that the Kaiser weapons connect between the ValFigh's spine and this piece, which shifts down a little when connected as such.

Miniature Vulcan cannons on each forearm are useful for making cover fire. Or swiss cheese.
Creator Commentary
The legs are bent and "action-y" here but it's kind of hard to tell. The reason it's not all "action-y" in all the shots is because it's a little top heavy and prone to falling over.

6 pieces of the bulky armor are removable. They can be removed to increase Dai ValFigh's speed (at the cost of defensive and offensive power), or for a couple of other reasons which you'll see in a bit.

If you have 4 technic pins lying around, then the armor can combine into an autonomous "jet" that can actually provide cover fire from the four mini Vulcan cannons. How does it fly? How does it shoot? Imagination power :P

Regular mode ValFigh. Doesn't seem that impressive? Well, it can easily hold its own and smash and bash enemies. However, since its true power comes from its combiner accessories, it really is less useful in this form. However, its speed is MASSIVE which, combined with unseen weapons still in development, makes it more formidable than you'd think.
The torso actually lowers a bit in this mode to compensate for its slightly top-heavy nature.

Backside. Nothing new to explain.

This three images illustrate a single 1.5 seconds of ValFigh using its Giga Boost. Giga Boost allows the ValFigh to momentarily move incredibly fast -fast enough to leave an afterimage. The Giga Boost requires a long time to charge, however, so in a given battle it can only be used once or twice.

Like anything AEGAKS or AEGAKS-based, the pilot block ejects along with the dissipater. However, it's quite unlikely that ValFigh will ever need to use this ability because...

Whoops, sorry, quick intermission to show off the pilot block and the dummy pilot inside... anywho, the ValFigh probably won't need to eject this because....

ValFigh is a combiner itself! A combination of the piloted Core Fighter and the autonomous Valkyrie Wing (ValkWing)!
The dissipater and back armor turn into decorative parts that make both jets sleeker. So, when combining, the combination is a bit Transformers or MaitoGaine esque with parts flying off and combining elsewhere. Neither really need these extra parts to fly, though.

ValkWing. It can't do much in terms of fighting, but it can fly really fast and act like a decent decoy.

Underside. I think you can easily figure out the transformation sequence for this thing.

Core Fighter. It too isn't all too useful on its own right now.

Obligatory underside. If you can't figure out how THIS one transforms, you might want to get that thinking muscle checked out. Kidding! :P

The Four (Three and a Half) Amigos! Still works in progress but raring to go fight and bash some mechanical skulls in!
Creator's Notes
I wanted to make a combiner akin to Yuusha Tokkyuu Maito Gaine (Brave Express Might Gaine) so I did. Again, it's a WIP because I won't be able to finish it up nice and neat before I go back to college, but it's a pretty cool WIP nonetheless, don't you think?
By the time I'm done with it, it'll be more polished, maybe have a head, and have a whole tonne more of variable-combiner accessories.
The reason why it's not exactly an AEGAKS is because I've always wanted to make something that was part MAS and part AEGAKS. I've also wanted an excuse to crossover the MAS and AEGAKS universes somehow. Feel free to disregard my little story if you don't think it fits well in the AEGAKS universe.
If you managed to make it this far, at least comment! :P

This Has A Lot Of Thought Going Into It, And May I Ask, What Is Project ZX Exactly?
Originally, Project ZX was just the working title for all my MAS units and their storyline, but I since expanded the "universe" to include units from other people. In the end, I decided to make something cool. That "something cool" ended up being my crazy idea to make a computer game.
Rechristened "Project ZX Taisen", I will be slowly working on it over the next several years with whomever I can get my hands on who is willing to help for free. It's basically going to be like the "Super Robot Wars" games but all the robots are based off of LEGO models here on MOCpages. It's probably going to have a very "Duke Nukem Forever" schedule, so I wouldn't be surprised if it takes 12+ years to create this game. |

Freaking awesome mech man, especially for it only being a prototype. 5 stars all around. Excellent background story aswell. I have a question though about ur new group, do u think there's a place for any of my mechs in it?
Thank you! I'll take a look at your mechs and see :) |

Amazing concept. The splitting ability is charming, and I like the over all design. Fantastic work, and you're technique is definitely improving. Not sure how we will do it, but we'll work it in.
Glad you like it! And if you can't fit it in anywhere, just make it an alternate continuity! Easy way out for the win! If you'd like, I can share the rest of the ValFigh storyline as I conceived it. Maybe that'll help? |

Whoa, Keith! This is wicked!
It'll be even more wicked when I finish Kaiser Tank and the next two theoretical combiners: Dragon Nova and [as of yet unnamed] :D

Dag nabbit, just how many of us are currently building one of the things? Is this some insidious plot for AEGAKS to secretly take over the LEGO mech universe! Just kidding, I really like the transforming capabilities of your unit into several different combat vehicles. Reminded me of Voltron. No not the lions one, the other one that was made up of 15 or more different ships. I've got one of these myself but I still need to take pics and then post it. Should be up in the near future.
Indeed the AEGAKS are taking over the mechaverse! They're just that awesome! And yeah, it does kind of remind one of Vehicle Voltron / Dairugger XV, although not as insanely overboard with the combiners :P Can't wait to see your new MOC(s) :) |

Very nice Keith, you improved a lot! The combiners feature is really cool. I only miss overwhelming weapons... The Kaiser weapons are great and all, but when ValFigh is in Dai mode, it looks a bit plain. Whatever, it's wicked!
Oh there will be more weapons! Lots of weapons! I intend the full Kaiser mode to have weapons up the wazoo and for finished Dai mode to have more armor and a couple of powerful weapons of its own. Just wait and see! ;D |

I have to admit, when I first saw it, I wasn't terribly impressed. BUT, as I read on and saw the pictures, I realized that this is truly a masterfully built mech. A worthy addition to the AEGAKS line! |
