The Year is 2081:
Once the news of the Battlestar Galactica's discovery spread across Earth and the various outposts of the solar system, a revival of Ancient traditions emerged. Blended with what was learned from the ship's records of the Twelve Colonies and Kobol, a new Culture has started to develop.
About this creation
Sports such as Pyramid were resurrected, first as casual backyard games, but they soon became a world wide Professional League.
Poseidon Arena, home of the Sydney, Australia Sharks, is one such example. Details of what the original game was like in the Colonies were vague, but a mix of old and new make for quite an entertaining experience.

A mixture of high tech imaging and sound, as well as the ancient arts of stone cutting and mosiacs are utilized in this athletic facility. Here we see the Team Mascot, in Vermont Marble, holding a Trident to intimidate the opposing team.

Costumed Mascots, like Mark the Shark, feigning a battle with Heath the Pirate from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is an adjunct to the coin toss ceremony. The new tradition is for the mascots to become so intoxicated that their continuing brawl often coincides with the Pyramid Match.

The statue of the Sea God, Poseidon, presides over the match. As is common in the new League, most Arenas have chosen an Ancient God; in a sense, a modern day Temple. This concept came from Atlas Arena in Caprica City, Caprica, home of the Buccaneers.

The Sharks' owner, Parrington Levopolis, venture capatilist and adult film producer, is also enjoying the festivities. As CEO of the Greco Adult Industries Amalgamated, or G.A.I.A., Levopolis has enjoyed monumental success in the development of interactive holographic technology. He is one of the major investors in the new Professional Pyramid League, seeing an opportunity to take advantage of the Ancients' revival.

The chances of his team winning, however, are quite slim in spite of the amount of money spent on the athletes' salaries. Fortunately, his most noteworthy 'entertainment' stars are accompanying him, notably Chrissy Phipson, to his right. Although performing dismally for the opening season, the popularity of the sport is accelerating rapidly: Another shrewd investment for Levopolis.

Me gusta. Very cool arena design!
Thanks! There were very few reference pics on this. But the basic outline is like the makeshift court at Delphi Union High School, where the resistance fighters were on the show. Thanks for checking it out! |

A strange turn in the story. I love the stadium though. So well built. Some of the embellishments to the architecture are simply brilliant. Nice AFOL ribbing going on here as well. Kudos on making minifigs look like...ahem..."entertainers."
Kind of a side line here. This was actually the first posting of both Levopolis and Phipson, but I changed the order later on in the series. I had originally built the arena just for fun, then tried to figure out how to work it into the story. I get back to his history later on in the series. Thanks again for the comment! |

I wanted to set the stage for a major character here. Heath will be featured in an upcoming episode. Thanks! |

Your number 1 source for Lego BSG!! That's pretty crazy dude, were there even any reference pics for this? Or is it all you?
Very little reference, just the arena from Caprica, and the court where Sam and Starbuck played at DUHS.

After that, I pretty much just made it up! I wanted to create a villain, too, so a descendant of Parrington's fit the bill. He'll be in the next episode, so stay tuned! |

Hey wait...is he supposed to be like Gaius?
Gaius frackin'Baltar? Well, that's an interesting analogy...Hadn't occurred to me, but, okay, that can work...I got a ton of bricks for Christmas, and I've wanted to build something like this for a while. And even though this isn't a Part of the Next Chapter, it's part of the story, kinda like Razor or The Plan...Introducing some characters maybe, some humor for sure, we'll see. Thanks for the comment! |
